Reviewed 02/03/2012 | Everyone at the club was very friendly, and we felt at home right away. The prices are very reasonable $4.25 if you don't live in Gastonia, NC, $3.75 if you do.
Everything is run very informally which makes newcomers feel very comfortable.
I plan to go back many times, as long as I still live this close. |

Reviewed 01/09/2012 | My goodness it's been an entire year...and what a wonderful year at this range. I did get back, learned a new sport, met some WONDERFUL people and changed my life.
IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT SHOOTING!
Thanks to all the staff and regulars who put up with a novice like me. I hope they have seen their advice not wasted. THANKS SO MUCH, I WISH YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES ALL, A MOST HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!

Reviewed 12/02/2010 | My son, step-son, brother-in-law and I made a trip to your facility the day before Thanksgiving. We were impressed with the help we received, which helped us enjoy sport shooting even more. The facility looks great and all the equipment was in top notch condition. We're going to make this a Thanksgiving tradition. |

I was the only one like me out there, but felt right at home. I am definitely hooked and will be returning, as I plan to make good of the valuable tips I got while there...maybe I can sneak back tomorrow...tee hee |

Reviewed 05/21/2010 | The Skeet and Trap range located in Gastonia, is a fine facility and is ran by a great staff. i personally know all of the main range guys that run the facility during the week. i visit the range often and i am never disappointed with the atmosphere there, everyone is always courteous. I shoot 4 to 6 rounds of skeet a week, and even more if I am getting prepared for the big shoots i attend, such as in Sparta Illinois, or the Krieghoff Masters. Well worth the time and Money. You're sure to have a great day shooting.
They sell shells but like most buy them at the local wall mart before you get there. Also be sure to bring cash they are not setup to take credit cards. Good Luck!! Great place for young people to get a start into the sport. everyone is willing to give tips to the young shooters.
Hope this helps some of you finally get out there and burn some powder.

I had a new shooter with me and the people there were very helpful. Targets were not over priced as some clubs I shoot. Overall we all had a very good time. I am planing on moving to the area and will be shooting there a lot more. THANK YOU... |

Don was incredibly helpful and I was very impressed with the amount of time he spent teaching us how to enjoy the sport. Very nice facility, we will be back many more times. Reviewed 03/09/2008 | I stopped by to visit before shooting. I am returning to the sport after 30 years. Phillip and Don were very cordial, and made me want to visit again soon. I came back three days later for two consecutive days. I was again welcomed like a local. The range is great. Safety is first. The customers and staff are friendly and gave this returning shooter a lot of support and encouragement. It was great to have fun, and meet new friends. I am looking forward to regular outings and a lot of shots at Gastonia. |

Reviewed 12/20/2007 | Visited for the first time yesterday, Nice facility, voice command on trap range. 1 skeet, 1 trap, 1 combo range. Fees are $3 for City of Gastonia Residents, $3.50 for non-residents. They do sell a few types of ammo, but they do NOT rent guns.

Reviewed 07/10/2007 | As a former US Army range officer I've seen my share of both good and bad facilities and fired just about every weapon one can imagine. After 20+ years of not picking up a gun I finally decided to get back into the sport by tackling trap and skeet, the one type of shooting I have no experience with. Last Saturday I visited the Gastonia Skeet and Trap Club. Even though they were fairly busy and having told him I was a complete newbie with a shotgun, the manager took me personally through my first round of skeet which cost me all of $3.50 at this city owned facility. He told me if I could come back on a weekday that he would be happy to give me more personal instruction. Very friendly folks and I'm afraid I caught the shooting bug again! There is one skeet range, one trap range, and one combination trap/skeet range. I was very impressed by the well-maintained grounds which were well fenced for safety. There is a small (very small) air-conditioned club house with restrooms and plenty of safe parking as well as seating for spectators. I will definitely be going back considering with ammo I can shoot for less than ten bucks a round!

Reviewed 06/21/2007 | I stopped by almost 2 years ago to "warm up" for my first sporting clays outing with customers. I got hooked on trap and I am now into skeet too. The friendly locals and employees are the best I have run into with a gun in my hand. I recommend anyone of any skill level to try out this public owned facility. |

We are able to take advantage of free shooting lessons from one of the members, which helped all three of us tremendously. The facility is excellent and the help and service from the manager on duty was greatly appreciated. We had a lot of fun, and look forward to coming back again and again. |

Very open hours, only place close to me I can shoot 7 days a week at!!Robert was very helpful as I am a fairly new shooter @ skeet , and was eager to help me any way he could, I will definately be retuning with my regular shooting buddys! 2 trap fields, 2 skeet fields, voice activation on one of the trap fields, and I believe the second is in the works!! Very reasonably priced also!! |

Reviewed on or prior to 11/20/2005 | Gastonia Skeet & Trap is a city owned facility. There are two Skeet and Two Trap fields, though the second trap field is only open for registered Trap shoots.
All the folks that shoot out there are friendly and easy to get along with. Bob Boyd who has been running the club for years is a good guy that is always glad you are there, and will invite you back.
There are all new Beomats in the skeet houses. |
