joseph haynes painesville ohio Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 04/10/2010 | I just recently started shooting trap and skeet at urbandale, i must say i am very happy going there. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. This weekend coming up they are going to be opening their sporting clays. The employees are very nice, that past two time i have gone i had the same puller who is very nice and can take a joke, not to mention how to dish them out. I would recommend urbandale to anyone who likes to shoot and wants to go for there first time. |

The people there are great and are willing to help you out anyway they can, i see lots of improvements going on to make the place a great place to shoot.I joined the fall league and had a blast i plan on shooting winter league also. I wish all of them the best of luck and am looking forward to many years of shooting at Urbandale. Thanks to all of you for your support. |
Curt Brown Cleveland Heights , Ohio Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 11/16/2009 | I am a true beginner in trap and skeet and have just discovered Urban Dale. Everyone I've met there has been very helpful and very nice . Thank you to Butch who gave me a lesson in skeet shooting on my very first round. It appears the new owners are making a lot of upgrades to the facility because every time I've been there they have been working on the buildings etc. |
Greg Sliker Mentor, Ohio Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 09/22/2008 | I started shooting trap in August 2008. I had heard a number of disparaging comments made about Urbandale from quite a few experienced shooters. About the only reason I decided to give this place a chance was because it is located close to me. But, when I arrived the first time one of the new owners gave me a tour, took me down to pattern my new shotgun, then took me to a trap field and walked me through my first round while giving me tips on how to shoot more consistent and hit more birds. I have since met all the owners, joined a league and have shot at a couple private members only clubs so I have something to compare Urbandale to. I would not hesitate to bring anyone there, experienced shooter or brand new. The place is clean, well run, the equipment works, the staff is professional, the coffee is "OK" (but free makes it better). The stories about how it used to be I guess are accurate, but as bad as it used to be it is pretty much the exact opposite now. |
Melissa Gambol Madison, Ohio / London England Visitor Once Reviewed 12/26/2007 | We found the Urbandale Club via their website after searching for a shooting range in Madison. What an excellent place to shoot! We received a top notch skeet shooting lesson from the owner, and by the end of the excellent tutorial session were hitting the targets well! Everyone was extraordinarily friendly and the site was well-appointed and clearly being lovingly developed. We are looking forward to future sessions. |
Greg Tufts Perry, Ohio Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 11/23/2007 | This facility has made drastic improvements in the past six months. New owners have invested a lot of time and money to improve this facility dramatically. I started shooting there about a year and a half ago and it was in very sorry shape. The machines were in disrepair and the whole facility was just barely adequate to shoot at. New owners took over sometime in the late spring of 2007 and in a very short time have made substantial improvements. Both skeet fields are not operable and the trap ranges are much better. Voice activated pullers are just one of the improvements. All the machines have been overhauled or replaced and the club house is in the process of being remodeled. Overall this is a very pleasant place to shoot and the continued improvements make it even better. |
Chuck Battaglia Chardon, Ohio Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 07/06/2006 | I have been shooting on a league at this club on and off for twenty years. It used to be a very nice place to shoot when it was owned by Eli and Helen Combs, both professional shooters for many years. They sold it to a "group of individuals" about eight or ten years ago and I'm sad to say it has gone steadily down hill ever since. The equipment is in poor working order and the owners refuse to do anything other than "patch it up" yet they increase the shooting fees every year. There are eight traps but only four are working at all and the two skeet fields are falling apart. The only reason I still go there occasionally (I'm no longer on the league) is it is the only place close by my home. As an added note, the last year I shot on the league was 2003 and there were always ten or more teams. This year there are only four teams.
What a waste of a once beautiful facility! |
