Courtney Simpson Mechanicsburg, PA Visitor Once Reviewed 01/17/2012 | I went to the Warrington Gun Club a few days ago with my sister and some of our friends. We had the best time shooting clays! The instructors at the club are so nice and helpful. They really make the experience even better. We are definitely planning on going back and would highly recommend the club to everyone! |
Mark S State College, PA Visitor Once Reviewed 11/15/2011 | Visited the club on the 22nd of October. I’ve been shooting sporting clays on and off for the past 13 years. I’ve shot at courses all over the country. I was looking for a place that had Sporting Clays, Wobble trap and 5 Stand that would be both fun and challenging and not just boost my ego and my shooting scores. I also had a friend meet me who was only shooting clays for his second time so I wanted to find a place that could accommodate both beginning and experienced shooters. What we found at the Warrington Club not only met but exceeded our expectations
First impressions are always important. Arriving at the club the first thing I noticed was how well kept the grounds and facilities are at the club. It’s truly top notch. We were immediately greeted and instantly felt welcome. Everyone working there smiled and greeted us and immediately went out of their way to make us feel at home. They truly go the extra mile to cater to their customers.
1. One of my initial concerns was that the Sporting Clays course only had 16 stations for the 100 round course. However the ingenious use of multiple traps throwing multiple possible scenarios of mini, midi, rabbit bird and battue made the course feel like it was made up of 30 stations. I loved the mix of shot and the concept of “fields” with multiple possible shots. Ron, our excellent trapper (and the Club’s Level 1 Instructor) described every station in detail, and every scenario of shots. He was more than willing to throw an extra show pair in case we needed it. Ron also informed me that the course was designed by Dan Schindler of the famous Paragon School of Sporting Clays. All stations worked, and all stations felt and looked brand new. We had one trap failure (on an extra non scored pair I asked Ron to throw me) and before we had completely left the station, Matt was there fixing it. Now that is what I call a commitment to maintaining the course.
2. We loved the mix of rabbits on the course, and we especially loved the slow rabbit shot in the woods. There was a great mix of targets in and out of the woods , elevated and ground level which keeps the course very interesting. Several stations had several possible shooting stands which mixes the experience and skill level even more.
3. I did not shoot my ‘normal’ average, but this was my first trip and the course was very challenging. However I probably ended up with a higher score than I thought since Ron’s keen eye saw several single pellet breaks than I could see. Ron was a gracious and patient trapper who kept us very entertained and challenged during our time on the course. He really mixed things up which is the true definition of sporting clays where the stations are supposed to simulate real hunting scenarios. In fact, this is the first course outside of the Eastern Shore of MD where they know how to throw correct Teal shots.
4. The club provided us with a free sporting clays cart (converted big wheel stroller) for our use during while we were there. What a very nice extra and it saved me from lugging my extra shells in a bag.
5. Ron recommended we warm up on the wobble trap first, shoot the course then finish on the five stand, he wasn’t kidding. The Five stand is a goose hunter’s dream practice. The targets are a mix of 3 tower’s and ground traps. All shots are over water and are challenging to say the least. I can’t wait to go back this winter with my group of goose hunting friends and show up with a case of shells to just burn on the five stand and final stations of the course to warm up for nuisance snow goose season. Between rounds we can duck into the clubhouse to warm up.
In summary, this was my first trip to the Warrington club, but it certainly won’t be the last. I know for a fact that the course will remain challenging due to the mix of possible different scenario’s at each station. Additionally I cannot wait to try out the future changes and upgrades that are planned for the near future. Ron described some very exciting changes, changes that would make it one of the premier shotgun shooting experiences in the US. One thing of note that’s not listed on their website. Rental guns and shells are available at the clubhouse. My friend needed a loaner and he ended up shooting a nice quality gun for the day.

Andrew Meehan Washington, DC Visitor Once Reviewed 10/27/2011 | We had a great time. Matt, the owner, took us around the course, showed us some interesting shots and gave my friend a tutorial on shooting, as he had never shot before.
Would definitely recommend going again. Warrington is a top notch club. |
Mike Ferber Harrisburg, PA Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 09/28/2011 | Matt and his crew have done a wonderful job bringing the club back to life. They just need to speed the word up and let people know how well its gone through the new transformation. I highly recommend the facility and ask that you give it a try. I was one of the original members back in 1993 and am happy to be able to shoot at this beautiful facility again. |
Brian Dover PA Visitor Once Reviewed 08/24/2011 | I took a lesson at the club. First time shooting clays. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and informative. Club was in very good condition. Had a great time. Will definitely go back and try again. |
Nathan York, PA Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 08/23/2011 | Visited the week of August 8th. First visit under new management but was a member under prior management for over 1 year.
First I must say that this is my first post to ClayTargets and while my review might sound negative I know of many shooters who would not be nearly as kind as I will try to be. Hopefully the club will accept this information as constructive criticism and I do not pretend to be an authority on the sport.
If you are an active sporting clay shooter please be aware that this club may not be for you for the following reasons.
1. The club throws mixed pairs at every station. Rather than stepping into a station and seeing 3 or 4 pairs of the same presentation you will see 3 or 4 different presentations off of 2-4 traps. This makes the concept of a show pair impossible and I personally feel like I have shot a 100 rounds off of a wobble trap after my round.
2. If you are not a fan of rabbit targets be forewarned, 22 rabbits in my 100 round, way too much for me.
3. Trappers- first the club needs to learn how to use what targets and when. I had to laugh when the trapper was throwing minis at 50-70 yards (and they were thrown at top speed) and battues off a flat trap that did not show any face until they hit at least 50 yards.
4. Keep your own score if you care as my trapper was off by 7 birds.
5. No golf carts although the trapper said some were coming in soon.
6. Targets- unbelievable but the targets had not changed since my visit 18 months before. The old management indicated that the township was restricting the club's ability to move traps around the course. Not sure if this is still true but seems to me like if you could move the traps you would do so. Pretty boring!!!
7. Target visibility- I had probably 5 targets that I could not get a clean shot at because the traps were throwing targets behind trees or the stand had trees that needed to be trimmed.
8. 5 stand- in terms of the structure one of the best you will see but only 5 of 8 traps worked the day I was there. I have shot this 5 stand before and it can be one of the best in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Overall, on the surface this club appears first class and no expense was spared when it was first constructed probably 10-15 years ago (and includes an Olympic Trap and Skeet Range which hasn't been used for over 4 years) but if you are looking for customary presentations (not mixed pairs) and customary mix of targets (not 22 rabbits, 50 yard flat battues and 60 yard minis) you might want to look elsewhere.
I voiced my concerns to management and to their credit they indicated they would mark my file to address the next time I visit. Given that the targets have not changed in over 18 months (and may not be able to be changed because of local restrictions) I would not consider membership again and likely will not return as I feel there too many other good options here in Central PA. While there is new management I feel that they are not experienced clay shooters and don't understand what today's clay shooter expects and this sadly was true of the former management.

Matt M. York, PA Visitor Once Reviewed 07/27/2011 | My 2 brothers and I spent the morning at the Warrington Club on 7/23 and had a blast! We are novices, and Matt the Manager and his staff were very accommodating. All the stations were explained to us before we shot which made it much more enjoyable. Can't wait to go back! Also - prices are not bad! |
George D Summers Germantown, MD Visitor Once Reviewed 07/20/2011 | The Warrington Gun Club has been under new management since July 5, 2011.

Jesse Harrisburg, pa Visitor Once Reviewed 06/30/2011 | Went one afternoon with two friends to try out skeet shooting and could not have had a better experience. Great looking, large facility with everything you need there to play with. Everyone was very nice. Ron and his son and another fella took us around to the stations and showed us what to expect at each one before we each tried. Ron gave us a few tips through-out as well, as he could see we wanted to get better. Lots of target variety and shooting locations through the course. It was like golfing with a gun - each shot was something new and challenging. I will be going back and would highly recommend it to anyone. Great for friends or a company event. Ron and crew did a great job. |
Erik Harrisburg Visitor Once Reviewed 05/23/2011 | This place is fantastic! Went with a group of guys for the first time this weekend and we had a blast. The only thing you have to do is load your gun and shoot. We did the 50 clays and there were 10 stations, all with different types of shots. Large clays, small clays, the slow rabbit is awesome! Will definitely go there again. |
