Bob Tanner Sun Lakes, Arizona Visitor Once Reviewed 01/31/2010 | I stopped by Phantom one Saturday morning about 30 days ago, and asked about the possibility of shooting skeet. I was brusquely told that I needed to know someone at the club to be allowed to shoot there, and that they oriented their membership to active or retired military, or DOD personnel. I explained that I was somewhat new to the area, and didn't know anyone in their club, but I had spent six years in the U.S. Air Force (4 years active and 2 inactive reserve) quite a few years back. The response was, “that will not cut it". The individual stated that they were on Air Force property, and that they had to tighten security after 9/11. Well, I certainly don’t look like a terrorist (Caucasian male, 60+ years old), so I can only assume that they have a closed membership that is oriented to career military types. Too bad, particularly due to my Air Force service, thought it might have counted for something given that they are on Air Force property.
