Alan Oldham North Carolina Visitor Once Reviewed 08/31/2010 | Visited this club to participate in a corporate shoot. What a great place to shoot! 16 sporting clays stations, a wobble trap and 5 stand, what more could you ask for? The owners are great folks and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this range! |
Falls Village, CT Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 04/19/2010 | What a fun course, with a good combination of open field and "in the woods" presentations. There are some good technical targets with brilliant use of the available terrain, and very few "puff/give-me" stations.
The 5 stand is challenging but not over the top. In all, a good stop just off I81 with some of the friendliest management in the sport.

Matt Mader Stuarts Draft, Va. Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 08/31/2009 | This place is awesome and I can't get enough! I never had the opportunity to shoot it when it was under the previous owners but from what I hear it was not that great until now. John and Richard have made this location fun, challenging and safe for everyone. Both guys are really top notch and very knowledgeable. They change the course up regularly which adds to your personal frustration....just as you get used to the stations and start getting in a groove, there they go again making things difficult...but as John says "that is a good thing". Try all the stations (walk through) (wobble) and (5 stand) and I'm sure you will be hooked and come back time and time again. Heading there tomorrow! |
George Homan Mount Crawford Va Visitor Once Reviewed 08/18/2009 | I just had the opportunity to shoot a complete round of Sporting clays with my good friends. Not that doesn’t sound like a big deal but for me it was. You see I use a wheelchair to get around. I want to commend John and Rick for designing their facility in such a way that made all the stands accessible. I have shot at other locations and always find several if not sometimes many of the stands in-accessible. I think anyone who enjoys going out with friends for a great afternoon of shooting at some birds in the air and on the ground will have a great time at this range. Everyone is very friendly and will be happy to give instruction if needed.
Thanks again John and Rick , George
P.S. I hope some time the sporting clay association can list ranges around the state that are accessible. This is a Great Family/Friends activity. |
Ken Schafer Reston, VA Visitor Once Reviewed 08/06/2009 | John Alexander and Rick Hill have done a fantastic job resurrecting the Flying Rabbit. Everything is new and the layout as been redesigned, The clays targets are fun mix of in the woods and in the open. The Wobble has extra traps to the right throwing crossers and out-goers just ti keep you on your toes. I shot the course on July 30 and had a great time--The wooded part of the clays course provided relief from the heat of the day-the open part gave me highly visible targets. There is a 5-stand with a nice mix of all-too-easy -to-miss targets. This is a wonderful facility--go shoot it--you will not be disappointed. Check their web-site for schedules and events.

Paul Brown Raleigh, NC Visitor Once Reviewed 04/20/2009 | Shot the sporting course (100) and the five stand on Saturday 4.18.09 - Rick Hill (owner) has done a great job! Reliable equipment, challenging presentations, and a friendly atmosphere - what else can you ask for? The next time in I am in Virginia - I will be stopping by for another round. |
Ben Harrisonburg, VA Visitor Once Reviewed 04/20/2009 | The Flying Rabbit is exactly what one is looking for in a shotgun range. they have different games at very reasonable prices, the owners are real nice, fun, people and everything is very smooth and enjoyable. |
Richard Ammons Waynesboro, VA Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 04/16/2009 | The Flying Rabbit is a great place to have fun and sharpen skills! Four of us from a shooting club in Rockbridge County, VA, visited TFR again Friday to try their relatively newly commissioned Five Stand a couple rounds, and grab a 100 round walk through their sporting course. Rick Hill and John Alexander were on hand and we think had almost as much fun as we did (offering encouragement, laughing with us, some tips, etc.) with the Five Stand. On the sporting course, once equipped with the radio controlled release, we were on our way. The sporting course is significant fun, not to mention humbling at places. "A good time was had by all." If you haven't tried TFR, stop delaying and make it happen! |

Don Roll Fairfield, Virginia Visitor Once Reviewed 02/27/2009 | Six of us went to the newly reopened Flying Rabbit about a month ago. It was a real pleasure. The course is challenging, but most of us really enjoyed the day.
I am a member of the homestead Gun Club and have shot sporting there a number of times and at Quail Ridge in Lexington as well. I would say this course is more difficult than the homestead because of the fairly heavy vegetation on some of the stands, but I felt it was well worth going back. In fact plan to go back next week.
In talking with the club they intend to have their five stand up and running in the very near future as well.

JCW3 Norfolk, VA Visitor Once Reviewed 10/25/2006 | Drove up the the valley to do a little hunting and bust a few clays. I found fly rabbit on the net and thought the pricing was within reason, so I gave it a try.
Directions are bad, and the place is hard to find, due to the small sign they have. I would recommend giving yourself and extra 15-30 minutes to find the place.
When we showed up that morning they gave us a choice of 5 stand (25-$5), wobble trap(25-$5), or sporting (50-$15). We choose to do the sporting loop. The trapper was very nice and even gave us a few extras from time to time. The course was very testing and gave a GOOD testing of the shooters experiance. Stations ranged from close rabbit shots to open field shots. Some of the stations seemed to be unmaintained, but everyone was safe and offered a good experiance.
Would HIGHLY recommend it for anyone wanting a good day of PURE FUN. I will be back SOON... |
