Love this place! Brad, Alyss, and ever-present doggy ambassador Rocky really go out of their way to give everyone a great and memorable experience. Varney's has a modern skeet field (only one in Maine as far as I know) set up, in addition to regular skeet, and a wooded sporting clays course with a tower shot, multiple rabbit stations, midi and mini targets, and a specially-designed "gravity bunny" (you have to go there to see/shoot it, I can't really explain it here!). The sporting clay course normally runs once a month on the second Sunday, although there are a variety of competitions in both clays and skeet that are held throughout the year.
Varney's is just a great place to spend a few weekend hours. Everyone there is incredibly friendly, and whether it's shooting a few rounds of skeet, going out on the clays course, or sitting around the wood stove with coffee and cookies after a mid-January skeet excursion in single digit temps, you'll want to come back here.

I have taken a lesson from Brad, and plan to take more as time permits. That single lesson has improved my clay shooting by several birds! I have shot sporting clays several time last summer and fall, by myself and with my 15-year old son, and we have always had fun. the trappers and other guests are always friendly, and I plan to do more shooting there this coming spring (if it ever stops snow up here in Maine!)

I am semi-retired, but my priority now is shooting lessons. I have been doing this for over forty years. I give a 100% money back guarantee if customers are not satisfied. Most of my students are hunters but, I do work with competitive shooters on improving their game. I believe I can help anybody become a better wing shooter. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I ask them to call me for more information. If they have a dog, and he could talk, he would say to take a lesson with Brad.
