Paul W. Stegenga Johns Creek, Georgia Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 03/07/2013 | I took five new shooters this morning, and there was snow on the ground!?!
Mike and Phillip were very helpful and the courses were in great shape.
The five stand is wickedly brutal !!! PULL !!
We all had a great time and continue to recommend this club to every one! |
Paul W. Stegenga Johns Creek, Georgia Visitor Once Reviewed 12/24/2012 | Thursday December 20th was my first visit and first shooting outing. I'm as "Beginner" as it gets. We met the Owner, Richard, and he was both very hospitable and a patient teacher. Since the rain was so bad, my friend and I had the Club to ourselves. Richard showed us how to track a clay, where to shoot, and how to clean my new shot gun. I'm sorry the last reviewer had a different experience, and his post motivated me to post about our experience - it was exactly the OPPOSITE. I'm going back Monday ! The five stand was great, (and hard) and we were sheltered from the drizzly rain.
One unique surprise was the sale price for various Beretta shot guns. I've been shopping a lot, and recently ordered a Benelli super sport from the performance shop from a Norcross Gun Room. Richard's prices on his Beretta stock was so good that I wish I could cancel my Benelli - well not really - so I'll just buy both guns. They say you buy a Beretta for life !
My highest regards and recommendations ! |
John Williams Sugar Hill, GA Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 12/20/2012 | Had several nice visits with my sons and had enjoyable time....until the last visit. During that visit, we paid for 100 clays each (300 total) for over $100. We were issued a clay counter/meter showing 329 clays. We turn it in with 625 clays - a difference of 296 clays, well within the 300 paid. The yound lady working the counter was confused at first but realized it would be quite a feat for 3 people to move from stand to stand, load 600 rounds between us and fire 600 shots....that works out to 1.67 rounds per minute. Anyway, a younger male worker - claiming to be an owner (most likely the owner's son or employee) basically called me a liar and demanded to see our receipt. He threw the receipt back at me and said "you can get by this time". Clearly, the implication was he was calling me a liar. We had a confrontation where I point out his poor customer service skill and general ignorance in running a business. No apology came...it was more important to be right than serve a customer. We would to hear from owner and get an apology on behalf of his staff or son. Until then, I will do my best to warn people I know frequent this place. Hold on tight to you money and take the time to make the staff document your clay count both out and in - unless you want to be charged an additional $100 and/or be subjected to the accusations of this individual who knows nothing of running a business. |
LCP Stone Mountain, GA Visitor Once Reviewed 06/02/2012 | Your GPS is going to fail you if you rely on it. Google Maps directons worked. It is located just north of Silver City, GA off Ga-9. The road off of Ga-9 is marked with a street sign. The paved road ends into gravel... keep going, it is worth the drive.
Very friendly... nothing fancy... don't worry about your experience level or dressing up...
I used my own gun... they have really nice rentals.
Reasonable prices on shells... they have field loads... ~1100 fps... if you want hotter loads you should bring your own.
Course had lots of variability... some easier, some more challenging... one consensus favorite was a rabbit run out of the back of a pickup truck station. |
Joe Buford, GA Visitor Once Reviewed 02/13/2012 | Got a Groupon way back in summer of 2011 and finally went on a warm Feb 2012 Saturday. Brought a buddy and we had a blast. First time for both of us. Lot's a variety, no pressure and plenty of room to move around. Better than a day on the golf course. Won't forget it for a long, long time. |
Robert Cox Marietta, GA Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 10/20/2011 | Richard and his sons run a very nice business for the sporting clay enthusiast. I have shot with them several times and I always feel welcomed back as an old friend. The facilities are clean and safe and the range is well marked. The stands are changed periodically to challenge the shooters. I don't feel that the stands are too difficult for the average shooter. The price for a round of clays is also reasonable and the carts are new and well kept. Richard also offers 5 stand, gun rentals and many more services. I can't say enough good stuff about this organization. Go out and give it a try. |
STUART FOULIS ROSWELL Visitor Once Reviewed 10/20/2011 | Took my boy 11 on the weekend and we had a great time. The facility is first class and the staff is very welcoming and friendly they are happy to explain anything you are not familiar with. We have some experience shooting skeet and trap, but the sporting clay (short course) was new to us. It was the kind of afternoon I wouldn't trade for anything. For around $100 for 100 shots (including a golf cart) we could have walked the course but for 12 bucks I got a cart and looked at all the courses Archery and white course (we did the blue course) we had an absolute blast. We will definitely go back. I drove from Roswell about 45 min and it was well worth the drive |
Michael Turnmyre Hickory NC Visitor Once Reviewed 08/23/2011 | I shot a round at Etowah Valley for the first time this past weekend (8/19/11) and really enjoyed everything about it. Friendly staff, nice equipment and layout of the course and 4 seater gas golf carts. Would defiantly recommend checking it out if you're in the North Georgia/Lake Lanier area! |
Paul Smith Stockbridge, Georgia Visitor Once Reviewed 01/31/2011 | This is a very nice facility. I and a friend were in town for a mens conference in Woodstock, Ga. and was looking for somewhere to bust some clays. We shot the blue sporting clays course and had a blast! Great looks and speeds on all the targets. Good challenge with all the rolling hills and of course the truck was a lot of fun. Staff was very friendly and helpful as it was my friends first time at sporting clays. Cost is reasonable and the carts were nice also. Will recommend this club highly! Carl Porter Suwanee, GA Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 01/03/2011 | I moved to Sueanee,Ga. this summer and shot at a couple of places and then found Etowah Valley. I shot the course once and became a member. The staff is a great group of professionals, who are always pleasant and eager to answer any questions. They went out of their way to introduce me to other shooters. The courses are well maintained and challenging. The prices for shooting, ammo, and instructions are very reasonable. The Beretta clothing line is great and Richard even discounts it. It is difficult enough to relocate to a new area, so finding a great shooting place like this is very comforting. Give the place a try,you will not be disappointed. |

C Rogers Roswell, GA Member 6-10 Visits Reviewed 10/25/2010 | Friendly people, decent target presentations with enough variation to challenge yet not intimidate. Nice facility in general. Very reasonable price to the public, very interested in youth and female shooters.
Some traps seem a bit worn in that presentations change from target to target but then you need to shoot where they are anyway so just keep a hard focus on the bird and bust em up! |
Stephen Hurst Cumming, Ga Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 03/17/2010 | I love this place. I had been shooting trap for a while, and then was introduced to Etowah Valley. Richard, Dave, Demo's and the guy's are always helpful and down to earth. The white and blue course through the woods are challenging, yet peaceful. It's a good place to blow off the weeks stress. Five stand can be very challenging. Hunted with Demos and Maxi for the first time. Now I'm hooked. Let's keep this place around and thriving. I look forward to going every chance that I get. |
Robert Donaldson Cumming, Georgia Visitor Once Reviewed 01/31/2010 | My wife and I just took the introductory course. The instructor is excellent and the class size was limited to eight and taught at a 5 stand. My wife had a great time and wants to return to shoot and we will. |
Grant Marettia Georgia Visitor Once Reviewed 12/22/2009 | I went and I loved it. You can rent golf carts. |
Harold Dyer Acworth, Georgia Visitor 6-10 Visits Reviewed 08/06/2009 | Very pleasantly surprised with the courses. No where else have I been able to shoot from the back of a Chevy truck. The five stand was awesome. The courses are challenging and unique. Every trip has been a pleasure. The staff are topnotch. I highly recommend this place to anyone including youngsters. |
Joe Hoerl Roswell, GA Visitor Once Reviewed 01/09/2009 | Great Sporting Clay Fun! I visited a few months back and plan to visit again as soon as possible. This is an excellent course that lets you walk through the woods at your own pace or rent a cart. I felt at home on the first visit as the owner (Richard) cooked lunch for us. If you want to get out of Atlanta and shoot some sporting clays this is the perfect place. |
Michael Noel Ormond Beach, FL Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 09/09/2008 | Was in Atlanta for a long week-end. Found Etowah Valley on-line and gave it a try, and was very happy. My brother-in-law, who has never shot sporting clays before went with me, and i think we have another shooter to the sporting clays world. Wife was attending a meeting in Atlanta, so told her about how nice the club & friendly the personal there was, so she skipped out on Saturday afternoon and went back a second time with me. Shot the white course twice once on Friday & then on Saturday, with 3 inexperienced shooters, who had a ton of fun. I did shoot the 5 stand while there, very nice presentations. I recommend this great place for anyone in this area. Will return whenever in the area....Thanks to everyone there for a great job....keep up the good work........ |
Jon Black Alpharetta, GA Visitor Once Reviewed 09/08/2008 | I had a wonderful time at the course today. I plan to go back next week. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in sporting clays! |
Robert Cumming, GA Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 07/12/2008 | This is a great place to shoot. I go there often and have a great time. Just wanted to let people know that have been there before that the course changes so if you want to shoot something different go back. Richard and the guys are always friendly and helpful. Also if you enjoy shooting there let Dawson county know it because they want to close him down. |
Steve Rosenberg Johns Creek, GA Visitor Once Reviewed 04/13/2008 | Just returned from taking my kids (16-year-old boy, 12-year-old girl), and we had a great time. The facility is first class and the staff is very welcoming. We have some experience shooting skeet and trap, but the sporting clay (short course) was new to us. It was the kind of afternoon I wouldn't trade for anything. For around $50 (including a golf cart) we had an absolute blast for the price of a trip to the movies. We will definitely go back. |
Peter Cumming, Ga Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 02/06/2008 | Went here for my first clay shooting. Did the long course a couple of times (15 stations) and most recently the 5-stand. Both are enjoyable. Very friendly atmosphere and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Reasonably priced. |
eric t klos ft myers florida Visitor Once Reviewed 01/06/2008 | If you're in the Atlanta area you need to stop by Etowah Valley. Very friendly. |
Stephen W Kendall Alpharetta, GA Visitor 6-10 Visits Reviewed 07/22/2007 | Have now shot the five stand, short sporting clays course and the long course.
The courses are quite a challenge at most stations. The Five Stand is a challenge as well and perhaps my favorite. Most all stations on both sporting clays courses are electronic and are running well with few problems, hang ups etc..
Golf carts are provided on the long course for a nominal fee, shotgun shells are sold at the club house at a bargain price of $5.00 a Box for 25 12 GA. Sundays the five stand is only $5.00 a round.
Love the casual atmosphere of Al and Dave the managers. |
Stephen Kendall Alpharetta GA Visitor Once Reviewed 07/02/2007 | Shot the Sporting Clays course two weeks ago and enjoyed it so much am going back again today, this time to try out the new five stand.
Very reasonably priced and close proximity to N Atlanta a definite plus. |

Reviewed 10/03/2006 | Etowah Valley Sp[orting Clays Park has been open for a little over one year and is under siege from our landlord Dawson County.
The matter is before the court and hope to have a positive result, but it is hard to fight city hall. All the best- Richard Becker
