Pete Bell Connersville, IN Visitor Once Reviewed 01/10/2013 | Very nice course and outstanding people. This is a 5+ hour drive for me but we are already planing a return trip. |
Jared Walker Kingston tn Member 6-10 Visits Reviewed 12/26/2012 | Im very new to the sport of clay targerts. The staff has been nothing but great and have been more then willing to answer every question I ask and show me the proper techniques. The staff treats first timers just like old timers. I got bit by the sporting clays bug and have just recently purchased a membership. I would recommend this club to everyone. These are really good people. All businesses should be ran with there hospitality. |
Patrick Snider Dahlonega, Georgia Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 10/23/2012 | Let me first say the owners Mickey & Kay are some of the nicest folks you will run across. I organized a weekend shooting trip for (12) to the Gatlinburg area. We had planned on only shooting this course one day but when the other course in the area could not accommodate us we decided to shoot this one a second day. Man were we glad it turned out that way. Great course, Great views of the Smokies and again Great people. One in our party brought his own golf cart and the swing arm broke from the frame. Mickey let us use his shop and welder to weld it back in place. We are definitely putting Chilhowee on our must visit again course list. |

Just shot the five stand this trip due to lack of time. This was fun, quick and challenging. Better get on trap 4 very quick. Had the best and highest paid trapper I know (my wife). Staff is always friendly and courteous. |
Brad Bucklin Chatham, IL Visitor Once Reviewed 06/04/2011 | I am grateful to this web site for the reviews that led my wife and I to this club; we were there on Memorial Day weekend of 2011.The club was everything that the reviews led us to expect-- exceptionally friendly people, a beautiful place for a club (almost in the Smoky Mountains National Park!), fair but challenging targets, and golf carts. They also pro-rate targets if you don't shoot a full round. I might add that we only brought one shotgun and the staff loaned us not only a shotgun but also two shell bags. So, thanks to your site and to this club for a fine shoot. |
Paul Anthony Meridian, MS Visitor Once Reviewed 11/02/2010 | Club was HIGHLY recommended by "Gun God" Bill McGuire (nuff said)- On a scale of 1 to 10 it rates a 100. Excellent Staff (Stan McConkey) and the GREAT members. Prices are very fair and targets were excellent. Shot the Sporting Clay and FITASC with members all were extremely friendly and helpful. I would (and will) without any hesitation recommend this club to anyone. Was told and observed that the course is changed very frequently, so you would get complacent. I will be back again and again and again. GREAT EXPERIENCE |
Joseph Parker Bay Minette, Al (outside Mobile, Al) Visitor Once Reviewed 10/25/2010 | I found this sporting clay range on the internet and this place was absolutely beautiful with the mountains in the background. When I go back to the area I will shoot again. The people were very courteous and even gave me a scenic route back to Pigeon Forge where I was staying. Thanks a lot. |
Jed Arthur Old Fort, TN Visitor Once Reviewed 10/16/2010 | My son ansd I are new to the Clay target scene. We did not have a clue as what to expect. These people were very helpful, friendly and kind. They took us around and showed us the facility before we went to the skeet and 5-stand range. We had a BLAST! I cant wait to go back! |
Jeff Deaver Blairsville Ga. Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 07/12/2010 | I am planning my 4th trip here next week. Our church Harmony Grove Baptist has a camping trip every year in Pigeon Forge, 8 to 12 of us plans one day of the week to come here to shoot, we have always been treated well by the staff and made felt more than welcome every time. They have a great place and well maintained. Keep up the good work. |
Clinton Thurman Elkridge, md Visitor Once Reviewed 06/25/2010 | Simply a great no frills place to shoot. The nicest people you could want to meet and the passion for the shooting sports is evident everywhere you look. They don't have manicured lawns but the clays course is very well laid out to be fun and test your skill at the same time. The 5 stand is a great fast paced game here where you will have your hands full. Hard to beat for a really great day outside making noise and feeling instantly like you've been a life long friend to everyone yo come across. Only word of advice, block out some time for the clubhouse as you will not escape without hearing some stories and being offered all the hospitality east Tennessee is known for. |
Paul Smith Stockbridge, Georgia Visitor Once Reviewed 03/17/2010 | My Sunday school class was staying in Pigeon Forge the weekend of Feb. 19th. We had a small group of men that came over and shot a round of sporting clays. The facilities were nice and very accommodating. The course was challenging and fun. The staff was very cordial and made sure we had everything that we needed. We are already planning on a return trip to shoot again next year. It was a little longer drive but the club was far better than previous clubs we had shot in years past. Glen Haven Baptist Church, McDonough,Ga. |
Brendan Louisville TN Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 01/11/2010 | I've now been to Chilhowee 2 times and am very pleased to have such a great facility nearby! The first time I went was on a weekday in the midafternoon and there weren't very many people there as could be expected, so I had a hard time finding someone to shoot with on the skeet field. This obviously is no fault of the clubs, but just take note that they do not have each field staffed by an employee, so if you go shoot by yourself, you may not have someone to pull for you.
Second time I went, however, I ended up shooting with a great group of guys... (Curly, Don, and Paul), and we did a round of Sporting Clays. The field is great, the path kept in good condition, and having the golf carts available to drive around the quite large property was welcome. The presentations are quite varied and the guys I was shooting with told me that the staff changes the presentations frequently (I gathered maybe around once per week) to keep things fresh and interesting.
A round of 100 Sporting Clays is $37.00 for non-members, which I personally find to be a tad on the high side, but at the same time, it's a great facility and the staff there is top notch.
Donna runs the shop and register inside the clubhouse and had coffee and light snacks available to warm up after a cold morning out on the mountain-side. Chilhowee is definitely worth a visit or two, and I for one will definitely be returning to shoot there more. |
Lane Knoxville, TN Visitor Once Reviewed 12/29/2009 | I visited today with my two sons and I just wanted to comment on the friendliness and helpfulness of this facility and staff. They gave us some good shooting tips as well as a little tech support with our guns. I'd heard that these folks do a good job and based on today, I'd have to agree. |
Will Holman Knoxville TN Visitor Once Reviewed 06/03/2009 | I took my 9 year-old son and my seventeen year-old daughter down to the range on 6/03/09. We were complete strangers to sporting clays, though we do shoot at our farm on weekends. We were greeted by managers, Hoyt and Donna and, instantly, made to feel right at home.
We arrived just as four guys (Jim, Jim, Ron and Garry) were about to run the course. Not only did they invite us along to watch, but one of the Jims gave my son an aire of importance by making him the official "Trap Master." He then showed my daughter how to keep score, making her a part of the activities, as well.
Afterwards, Hoyt came out and led my daughter and me through the skeet course. Very informative and helpful.
Point is this: Super-friendly, helpful folks, fantastic course.....absolutely give them a visit!

Frank Smith Knoxvile TN Visitor 6-10 Visits Reviewed 06/01/2009 | We took 7 shooters on the Clays course yesterday, including 3 novices. All of us had had a very enjoyable shoot. Mickey accommodated everyone like family. You will enjoy their creative trap placements. |
Stephen Williams Dandridge,TN Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 04/30/2009 | Excellent facility and great staff (can't say enough about either). The most fun you can have at any range around and it is hands down the best i have ever been to. I look forward to the (Make a break thru for Cf) tournament they host every year for Curefinders.org also. Over 400 shooters compete once a year over a two day period and it always runs smooth. Just imagine how things go when there is only a few of you and your friends! |
Sharpie Smith Waynesboro, MS Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 04/26/2009 | The Facilities are great. You are shooting Sporting Clays through the Great Smoky Mountains. I haven't shot in the summer time only winter and spring and can only imagine what the range looks like in full foliage or better yet in the Fall colors. I hope to get to go back soon. Micky and Kay run a top notch center. |
Bill Morrow Knoxville Visitor Once Reviewed 11/25/2008 | Great place to shoot with a awesome view. We went with a mens church outing and had a great time. Good salt of the earth people. Going back again with family on Thanksgiving break. |
Mike Bivens Knoxville, TN Member More than 10 visits Reviewed 08/26/2008 | Great Club. Helpful staff and friendly members willing to help in any way they can. Always enjoyable. |
Gordon Holland Knoxville, TN Visitor Once Reviewed 08/26/2008 | We had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the staff and range. We will definitely visit again and possibly become members. Thank you for treating us like family. |
Allan MacInnes Maryville TN Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 07/29/2007 | I just moved to the area and found this place through claytargetsonline.com. What a unique place it is, the people are very friendly, the equipment is outstanding and every time I go it seems they are improving all the shooting areas. All the target machines are high capacity so there is no waiting to load targets and they have golf carts to take shooters through the sporting clay course. The skeet field has a nice mountain view and is challenging because the targets seem to dip above and below the distant ridges. The five stand has lots of unique angles, overall this club is a shotgunners paradise, I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for this type of sport in the area. |
Todd dallas texas Visitor Once Reviewed 04/24/2007 | What a view! We shot skeet and had a great time. They are busy building, but it didn't take away from the atmosphere. The price is good and the people are people are super friendly.
I will make the trip to this range every time I visit the mountains. |
Henry Gainer Homosassa, fl Visitor Once Reviewed 04/15/2007 | A little hard to find but well worth it. The people are friendly and the range is awesome. There is enough variety in the targets to satisfy most shooters. It is hard to find a better range in the area. |
Russ Townsend Knoxville Tennessee Member More than 10 visits Reviewed 03/28/2007 | Every time we visit they have made new improvements. It just keeps getting better. The owners are great, and a pleasure to be around. The course is challenging, and traps are changed regularly so it is different nearly every time you visit. A great setting on the edge of the Smokies. |
Chuck McGuff Knoxville TN Member More than 10 visits Reviewed 03/03/2007 | Very nice facility with new, good equipment. Owners are very hospitable and knowledgeable. Recently added a five stand and new trap. Highly recommend. |
