Directions

Exit I-65 at Exit 80, the Edinburgh/Flatrock Exit, take S.R. 252 West through Edinburgh. Follow S.R. 252 West until it intersects US 31.(about 2.6 miles). Continue west across U.S. 31 for about 1.8 miles. Look for the orange and white watertower located just before the "Camp Atterbury-1942" boulder, take Edinburgh Street (the right fork in the road) for about a tenth of a mile and the shooting range will be on your right.

I stopped here on the way to KY only to find it closed during the week. The DNR officer said the concession contract had expired and they can't find anyone to take it over. What a shame. They may be open Friday nights and Saturdays for a few hours, depending on DNR.

Field #1 is approximately 24 inches higher than field #4. It was designed this way in order to promote drainage to the 4 field drains positioned 50 feet out from station 8. Station #4 is also slightly higher than Station #8 by approximately 3 inches on each field to also promote drainage to the outward field drains.

Final cost of the Range was about $500,000 less than the 4.7 million stated and includes the 66 Station Rifle-Pistol Range with its own 1500 square foot, fully equipped field house. The Rifle-Pistol Range has concrete deflector baffles covering most of the range and the all the shooting stations thereby almost eliminating the possibility of any stray or ricochet bullets escaping the shooting area.

Jealousy is a negative emotion.

This facility was really nice, as far as the concrete and skeet houses. Club house was very nice. It was however a shame that they spent 4.7 million dollars on this facility and did not level the skeet fields. They all run at a slope to the south, I would guess that Station one on field 1 is six feet higher than station seven on field 4. I do not know how they could have possibly spent that amount of money. According to my calculation it should have been built for about 1.9 million tops.
