Scott Schnelle Box Elder, SD Visitor Once Reviewed 01/09/2012 | As a visitor traveling through the area, I enjoyed a great Christmas eve 2011 at Okefenokee SC with owner Roni Murray. He was an awesome down home guy that just enjoys people and shooting. The club is well laid out and has nice Okefenokee views. The skeet ranges are nicely maintained also. If you're in the area, I recommend a drive to visit and shoot some great targets! |
Demi Howard Edisto Island, SC Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 06/17/2010 | Roni and the gang are great people! They will do what it takes to keep you coming back.
One item that has not yet been mentioned is their 100' fire tower! They have two machines (at different levels) throwing truly awesome targets. If you are shooting the tower at one of the stations over the pond, you will think it is a no-bird, as it takes a long time for that target to arrive!
They also host monthly tournaments (400 targets over 2 days) during most of the year.
It's not a sporting clays facility...it's an experience that you should not miss! |
Joe Coates Tallapoosa, Georgia Visitor Once Reviewed 04/03/2008 | I have never received such a warm reception in any place I've ever shot before. Tom who was covering for the owner Roni Murray really went out of his way to make me feel welcomed. He introduced me to Danny and
Suzanne Hartley who were very gracious and allowed me to accompany them for the afternoon. The courses were challenging and well laid out. All equipment was serviceable and functioned perfectly. Roni's son Herbie provided some interesting post shoot conversation on the front porch. The Murray's know their business...it's not about the shooting, it's all about the people. A great experience and well worth your shooting dollar. |
Steven Wise St. Marys, Ga Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 01/14/2008 | Excellent place to enjoy an afternoon (or morning) on the range. Members and guests welcomed like family. Well worth the drive. We usually enjoy lunch after shooting at a Folkston restaurant. If you are lucky you will get to visit with Bucky, the club's pet white tail deer. |
Steve Slawson Thornton, Co Visitor Once Reviewed 05/13/2007 | My wife and I took a 3 day course from John Woolley at the Okefenokee Sporting Clays facility. We both agreed that the overall experience was better than any of our other adventures to include Africa. Roni and his family, their extended family of friends and acquaintances are worth the trip. Yes, the clay presentations are awesome, but there are lots of clubs. There can only be one Roni! |
Russ Townsend Knoxville Tennessee Visitor Once Reviewed 03/28/2007 | Two challenging Sporting Clays courses and great hospitality. One course requires that you drive your truck or bring a cart, unless you like to walk a long way. The rustic clubhouse has a large porch where you can sit and talk at the end of the day, and the owner is happy to accommodate in any way he can. I hope to go back when the BBQ served. Worth the drive. |
Jim Durbin Jacksonville,Fla. Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 03/23/2006 | Approx. one hour north of Jacksonville-never been dissapointed. Profesionally operated - safety oriented. Good place to bring young shooters. bbq's not bad either. They are also the hosts for charity shoots during the year. Check them out! |
