I visited Naperville Sportsman Club last night with a friend. We both have experience with shotguns hunting but are relative though not complete novices at Trap. As a result we had to feel our way around a bit upon getting there and the guy at the counter looked, well, unfamiliar with us. Additionally, my friend had some misfires from the box of ammo purchased from the club which disrupted the flow of things not to mention my accidentally shooting out of turn at the first shift.
About half way through the round, a person whom I assume was the RSO came over and lit into my friend about his handling of his weapon and that he wasn't standing exactly on the square of concrete assigned to his station and made it clear, with some light profanity mixed in that he was close to being bounced off the range. My friend listened, acknowledged and throughout the entire round didn't verbally engage this guy other than to say I understand and sure. In other words, no behavior issues, no nothing, just a guy trying to shoot some trap.
For the sake of argument, although not true, I will just grant the RSO the benefit of the doubt that he had safety concerns and needed to intervene. My friend and I took great offense at the way in which he chose to engage in the safety instruction...ie; in a harsh, profane, unprofessional and just plane rude manner. We were clearly not on home turf but we were at all times respectful to the members and RSO and listened and acknowledged. His unprofessional and rude manner was severely off putting, so after the round we packed it up and left, never to return.
The range itself is as Tom Krolick says....a cozy 3 station range that would be a great place to shoot if it were not for those that inhabit it. I would strongly recommend not going to the Naperville Club as there are other options within 20 minutes with far nicer and welcoming staff.

The Naperville Sportsman's Club is based at Sportsman's Park Trap Range located in downtown Naperville, IL. The Club is a 501c7 not-for-profit organization and the facility is open to the general public.
The range offers trapshooting. There are 3 lighted trap fields that offer singles, handicap, double and wobble trap. The facility has a pattern board for shotgun adjustments.
The facility requires the use of target-type, steel shot ammunition. Ammunition in 12/20 gauge is available on site at competitive prices. All guests are required to furnish their own firearm and have a current IL FOID. The use of eye and ear protection and appropriate attire is required. A shooting pouch or vest is recommended.
The clubhouse and range are well maintained, ADA accessible for those with physical challenges, heated and air-conditioned. Programming at Sportsman's Park may include shotgun instruction classes, hunter education and league shooting.
Fees vary, based upon residency.
