Terry Strickland Apex, NC Visitor Once Reviewed 01/09/2012 | This is a really great place for a first timer that would like to learn the proper way to shoot clay. The staff is friendly and informative. |
Ray Bowman Mebane, NC Visitor Once Reviewed 05/29/2011 | My first time ever shooting sporting clays. I went with a friend who had been several times before. I found it to be a very nice place to shoot! Helpful, friendly and professional staff. Facility was well maintained, safe and clean right down to the restrooms. The store was well stocks with many unique items and firearms. A place to bring your family. I hope to go back soon, what fun! |
Ed Durham, NC Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 02/22/2011 | A great place to shoot clays and 5 stand. Definitely worth the short drive from Raleigh/Durham. |
Philip Culpepper Chapel Hill, NC Member 6-10 Visits Reviewed 12/27/2010 | I have the great pleasure of being a new member at this well established club. My two grown sons and I are new to sporting clays. (The instruction I received has started me off well.) We have all enjoyed every trip to the club and have been treated like old friends. Knowledgeable staff who all seem to enjoy what they do and what they do best is make sporting clays fun and challenging. Well stocked pro shop. Competitive prices. Even better with membership. Schedule works well for me because they are open almost every day of the year. Just a great place to go and enjoy my new hobby! |
David Samuel Chapel Hill, NC Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed 12/18/2010 | Great club and friendly staff. 13 station sporting clay course is well set up and a good variety of targets. Range also offers a 5 stand setup with a wobble and 3 additional traps. Pro-shop is well stocked and staff is extremely knowledgeable. I have also taken a lesson at Deep River and had a great experience. |
Eric Erkkila Duluth, MN Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 03/01/2010 | Staff is courteous and knowledgeable. The course is laid out well and is suited to all skill levels. I would recommend anyone traveling through the area to make this a stop. Facilities are clean and well kept. |
Jeff Priddy Raleigh, NC Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 01/11/2010 | Deep River has a very nice professional shop with an informative and courteous staff. The course layout is above average to very nice with good variation covering all angles from high houses over water, open field, deep woods, and rabbits. I brought two beginner 11 yr olds with a pump 20 gauge and they really enjoyed the experience. Non-shooter would enjoy the walk but will need ear and eye protection. The range equipment seemed to be well maintained and functioned properly. Great father son activity even for beginners. Get your ammo before you go. |
David Miller Wainscott NY Visitor Once Reviewed 02/16/2009 | What a great place, All the staff were very friendly and the course has a great layout with a good variety of targets and a great variety of backgrounds from marsh to open ground and over ponds. If shooting on your own a friendly trapper will go out with you which i prefer to a delay.
I look forward to shooting here again and highly recommend this sporting course. |
Ryan Mullins Raleigh, NC Visitor 6-10 Visits Reviewed 08/28/2008 | Deep River Sporting Clays is a challenging course that is always changing. The 13 station course is well laid out and presents a challenge to any shooter. I have never not enjoyed myself going through the course even when I was struggling. The varied setups test you in all sorts of shooting situations. I personally love the rabbit targets. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend Deep River Sporting Clays to all who want to improve their wingshooting skills and have a great time with friends and family. |
Marty Wood Whispering Pines, NC Visitor 2-5 Visits Reviewed 12/20/2007 | A couple of friends got me interested in sporting clays and I found Deep River on the internet and visited. I had no previous knowledge of sporting clays and Bill (Owner) talked with me at length about how to get started. I recently have taken lessons with Chuck (Level 2) and gained a great deal of knowledge and will be going back for more lessons, they are extremely knowledgable and I have found them to be friendly!!! |
Jeff Hunter Oxford, CT Visitor More than 10 visits Reviewed on or prior to 11/20/2005 | Deep River Sporting Clays is an excellent course within a short distance from Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Pinehurst. The course is laid out in a typical Carolina forest with a wide variety of presentations. Teal's that go straight up are usually abundant at Deep River. Walking is definitely easy and cart rental is available. In addition, the course is fully automated where they will either send a trapper with you or you can pull your own if you're in a group. Bill Kempffer (the owner), is a Level III instructor and a really nice guy. Weekend mornings are crowded, but the majority of crowds are usually gone by 1 in the afternoon. For a challange, definitely stop by on a weekend when they are running the ZZ Flyers. Deep River also offers a 5-stand for warm-up and a pistol range. |
