Visited your Club once and was well received. Very positive experience. My Son-In-Law and I were searching a place to shoot and I remembered your Club. Unfortunately, I discovered it was closing. To bad. Hope Y'all can find a new site to re-open. Please let the public know should you re-open in the future. We'll be watching for it. Thanks again for an enjoyable time.

I hate to hear this club is closing; it was a great place to shoot with great people. I spoke with some of the guys in October and at that time, it was still undetermined as to where the club was relocating to. If anyone has any information on where and when they will be reopening it would be greatly appreciated.

Im very sorry to hear this place might be closing. I have a fond memory from my youth in the late 1950s when my dad went to try the over/under Browning superposed my mom got him for Christmas. I had a plastic toy Tommy gun that I blasted away at everything. People kept walking over to see who was shooting the machine gun! Even years later, the place was still more of a genteel, polite Southern mannerism kind of place.

A most hospitible and pleasant place to shoot Skeet, Skat, or Trap. My girlfriend and I were warmly welcomed, and my girlfriend, who was a 1st time shooter, received excellent lessons from the Club President.
This was my third visit to the club and we had such a good time that I took out a family membership and really look forward to our next visit.
The equipent worked very well, and the other members with whom we shared some rounds were very friendly and helpful.
All in all, a tremendously good time. Very pleased all around.

I have visited this establishment once before but went by myself to practice before duck hunting.
This visit I brought my daughter and I cannot say enough good things about this place. On entering my daughter and I felt welcome. After filling out the paperwork we were joined by some other gentlemen which were happy to show us the ropes. One of the older gentlemen from the club actually came out and worked the skeet controller while giving my daughter some pointers on shooting.
We will be back soon to practice our shooting. A++++

I showed up here out of the blue and was instantly welcomed into a group of 4 to shoot. I liked the people and equipment so much that I joined even though I live 120 miles away. On my third trip, I was greeted by name. I asked for some coaching and got it totally free by people with over 40 years of shooting experience.

The members that I've met are glad to be out shooting, and genuinely want to see membership increased, skill increase, and promote the sport by helping any way they can.

Clubhouse is rustic and dripping with nostalgia from the golden days of shotgunning. If you are looking for a club or just to shoot occasionally, this is it!

I knew very little about this place when I drove out there. As I pulled up, I saw a gentleman getting his shotgun out of the back of his car and introduced myself. Said I had found one little listing on the internet for a skeet range and was looking for a place to shoot. He said "Well, you found it. I'm Terry. Wanna go shoot?". And just like that we grabbed another member and went to it.

I've been twice so far and had two good experiences. The people are overall very nice. Even the gruff good-old boys were friendly and helpful once I gave them a few minutes. The ranges and clubhouse are in pretty good shape, and the members obviously look after the place.

Membership is reasonable and rates are good, both for members and non-members. I only shoot skeet, but they've got trap as well, and voice-activated pulls for both if need-be.

The biggest thing I noticed was the free instruction. Everyone seems to shoot together, from the old salts to the new guys, and the old salts were constantly giving me tips and trying to help me improve my game. They're happy to talk about their guns and more than one insisted I borrow or try some of their equipment to see what I liked.

I'm definitely going to become a member and get involved. They are currently between managers, so the club president and other members are running the joint. If you're looking for a nice, clean, inexpensive skeet and trap club, I highly recommend you check this place out.

I was a first time skeet shooter and I found the facility clean and the equipment in excellent working order.

I noticed that the club members I came in contact with were friendly and eager to give constructive advice and encouragement.

Finally the club manager,Paul, former skeet world champion, was about as patient and eager to help type of person one will run across. with.

This skeet/trap club is worth a visit.

SLGC was an experience that i will not inflict on myself or my son again. The manager was rude and inconsiderate of the customer. My mother and father shot at SLGC for years when it was managed by Art Carmier. it was a large part of my youth, i would have liked to bring my son there on a regular basis but Hunters Run In Baton Rouge is where we will be headed from now on. J.D. "FLAP" Eschete would be ashamed of the attitude that is being portrayed in the sport of Skeet today.

Foremost, the club is clean, friendly, and safe. The members, although they may be cold at first, are knowledgeable and otherwise a diverse and great group of people. I just began shooting, and in part because of the club, I now not only feel comfortable within the sport but I am sure to continue in the shooting. I couldn't applaud this club enough.

I've been a member of this gun club for a few months now and my shooting has been nothing but better because of it. I was impressed on my first visit by the hospitality of the members and their eagerness to invite a novice shooter to join their squad for the afternoon. Since then, I have taken advantage of the world class instruction offered at the club, and my scores have improved significantly. Though it is open to the public, this is a members oriented club with exceptionally reasonable membership fees and shooting fees, and is well worth joining.

By the way, the Blanche Drive address listed is not the location of the club. The physical location does not have an address, but it is easy to find on hwy 541 (river road in avondale, la) just north of hwy. 18, right near the avondale shipyard, and not far from the Huey P. Long bridge.

This facility is on the edge of a large shipbuilding facility and takes about 35 minutes to reach from the French Quarter. The range was well kept but the person staffing it was not helpful and was essentially rude and unwelcoming to this visitor. His abrupt and abrasive nature was not the southern hospitality I had come to expect in Louisiana. I was not made to feel welcome and I got the impression I was just a stranger who forced him get off the couch and leave the TV to do his job. I will not visit this location again.

I drove up today for the first time not knowing what to expect. A group of three customers took me under their wing and showed me the ropes and made me feel right at home in 5 minutes. Later I was shooting by myself with a voice controlled launcher and the staff came out to teach me some pointers. It was`a great experience and I will be back soon. I think I have a new hobby!

Been looking for a place to shoot skeet since the Bonnet Carre Spillway does not allow target practice. Heard about the gun club from a friend and just drove up to the place and the people were very welcoming. Awesome facility with the friendly southern warmth of the people that the Louisiana is known for. Thanks! We will be back!

First time visitor with my two sons. Greeted warmly and felt welcome. Paul took the time to show us the course and talk about the "how to's" of skeet shooting. Nice facility with plenty of room. We all enjoyed the visit and plan to return.

SLGC is an excellent shotgunners source for experienced to novice clay shooters. Private skeet lesson are offered by management and hunters education classes are scheduled annually. Wobble trap is also offered in addition to regular trap and skeet.
