I had the good fortune to be in the area when Catfish Creek was having a tournament in mid January and had a wonderful day on their courses. I was able to enjoy the main course as well as the sub gauge course and while my expectations sometimes exceeded my abilities I still had a “ball”. The targets were fun, fair, varied and challenging; all in all a grand day with a shotgun. Many thanks to Catfish Creek and it’s members that showed me true southern hospitality.

Three of my friends and I visited Catfish Creek a couple weeks ago on a Saturday and were surprised to find they were not busy. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. They had fourteen stations up and running ranging from easy to very difficult. They use a key card system and delay technology is available. The setting was very nice along the lake with lots of shade and we had a lake breeze all morning, but it did get a little warm in the afternoon. There were golf carts to rent but no shotgun holders in the cart. There is no food service onsite but there is a nice pavilion at lakeside, the staff had arranged complimentary water in a cooler half way through the course. The office is a mobile home trailer in the Florida FFA complex and then you take a fairly long golf cart ride out to the lakeside course for shooting. It’s far enough away you can’t hear shooting from the office. The nice staff and interesting setup made it worth a visit. They do have some guns to rent and some ammo available, but no pro shop. Prices were typical of south Florida sporting clay ranges.
