I took a trip from Camp Lejeune to visit the Cherry Pt. club on Wednesday because my local club (club #6) is still renovating. The skeet range can be difficult to find because it’s not listed on base direction signs, not on the base map and every local I asked didn’t know where it is. Solid directions are listed below. Base access for visitors could be problematic, call Steve or the base pass & ID center at (252)466-5921 for up to date pass requirements.
If you have a DoD decal enter from the Slocum Rd. Gate and turn left onto Rosevelt. Stay on Rosevelt past “Access Rd” (Rifle/Pistol Range Rd.) and look for an unnamed paved road on the right hand side. If you reach Monroe Dr. you went too far (turn around).
The range is marked with an unlit wooden sign (difficult to spot at night). Head about 600 meters down that road to the outdoor patio area. The patio area provides some protection from the elements with tables, benches and gun racks. There is a single skeet/trap field and it appears another field is under construction. Great atmosphere, good people and a family friendly environment.

I called the director of the club a mo before our visit to NC and he said no problem to shoot there. Called him when we were there and after talking to him once, he never made contact again, so we were not able to shoot. It was upsetting after calling more than a mo before our trip to be sure it was do-able!

Cherry Point is a pleasure. Once you obtain a car sticker, a yearly pass and register your guns (any gun you plan to bring onto the base) you are ready to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow trap and skeet shooters…many of whom are active and retired military. All of the above is free.
Open Wednesday, Thursday nights and Saturday and Sunday mornings you won’t find a more reasonable place to shoot. Yearly membership is $30. Rounds are $2.50-$3.50. Punch cards are sold.
