I’ve been shooting Gallatin for the MT State/Kruger Challenge the past 2 years, and plan to continue for the foreseeable future. It is a bit off the beaten path, but seeing that the club own ~260ish acres, it’s worth the drive.
The terrain they have to play with is great. The main course is along edge of a ravine and works it’s way up the hill; so as you progress through you start shooting below you into the ravine, and by the end of the course, shooting up a hill.
They also have a lower ravine where they used to have a course (and hopefully will again!) and set up the FITASC course. This area is equally incredible for terrain, rock outcroppings, ruts, ravines, all make for incredible targets.
And when you’re getting back to the Interstate, stop in Logan at “Land of Magic” for a fabulous, huge, steak!

I shot at the facility during a trip to Montana summer of 2007. The club itself is a little difficult to find and get to but in the end it was well worth the effort. It is a 13 station course which takes the shooter down into a small canyon. The course was well laid out and fun to shoot. The other shooters I ran into on the course were very friendly and helpful. If you plan on visiting print the directions to the club and check club hours on the Gallatin Sporting Clays website. Overall it was a great course to shoot and I will return if I find myself in the area again.
