Absolutely superb. I have searched for a place like this for years…most gun clubs in this area are not very shotgun friendly. My son and I have shot clays there several times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Emma and Mick are wonderful people and we plan to be spending a lot mere time there.

Great place, to break a few birds. They rent guns for the travelers, a nice mile walk, with a number of stands. Emma, thanks for the email information.

Went to this range this past Saturday(11/16/2013)with a friend to shoot some trap and couldn’t agree less with the previous post. All the other posts speak well of the place and this is what I found. The facility, although a little bit of a challenge to find, is very clean and well-kept. Emma, as noted by others is very knowledgeable and the soul of customer service. She explained everything and made us feel welcome. We only shot trap and the voice operated system works well (a little too well at times, as sometimes a word slightly louder than the rest will send a bird flying, but usually “Pull!” works fine), but no report here on the skeet or sporting clays. Plan to go back soon!

Was treated with total disrespect today at this club. Will NEVER be shooting there again and recommend the same for anyone thinking about shooting there in the future-

Visited IRT&S Club for the first time today. It is a little out of the way but worth the trip. My wife and I have recently started shooting sporting clays. We were looking for someplace to work on technique so we decided to try IRTCS. When we got there, Emma was very helpful. She spent the time showing us how to operate the equipment on the trap field, it was voice activated. I have been looking for a new gun and they had a Beretta Prevail with 32″ barrels and the price was significantly better than I had been able to find anywhere else. Today was our first visit but we will retun often, (probably next Friday).

We now have 2 Sporting Clays courses as well as Trap,Skeet & 5 stand. The Blue Sporting Clays course is more difficult and is 100 targets over 14 stations and the Red course is easier 50 targets over 7 stations. You can shoot all the Red course or all of the Blue course or some of each.

Just starting on Traps – have found the staff and many of the more experienced shooters very helpful. Relaxed atmosphere.
Please note: A better alternative to driving up 82nd Ave. (except for a short distance at the beginning this is a gravel road) is to drive up 66th Ave. to 69th St., turn left and go to end of the road; at the end, turn left (this is where a well maintained gravel road begins); the road into the club is the 2nd right.

Mick, his wife and staff have created a great facility… Trap… Skeet…. Clays… 5 stand…. all good…
Low key, old Florida style environment…shooters paradise

My 15 yr old son and I went there today for the first time. Not only was it our first time at this range but also with trap shooting. A very nice, clean, slow paced environment. A family run business you really get the feeling like your home. Very nice people at reasonable rates. We will certainly be returning again soon.

There is only one way to describe this course… Fast and difficult! This facility is not geared toward newbies or casual shooters, with the clays course one of the most challenging in South Florida.
As some of the other reviews mention, it may not be the fanciest facility in but the grounds are well maintained and clean. Yes, the dirt road is a bummer, but it is in top condition as far as dirt roads go.
So it really comes down to 1 question – are you looking for…
A) An impressive facility with a learning environment for new shooters?
OR
B) A challenging clays course and experienced staff that can help you become a AA shooter?
If you said B then Indian River is perfect fit for you.

I had heard about this shooting range from a Sheriff’s deputy as a good place to shoot. It was a bit of a drive from my home in Stuart, FL but worth the trip. I found this range to be the best I have ever shot at. The people that manned the facility were first class and very helpful. The safety of this range is excellent and all the information was presented upon arrival at check in. A form was filled out as a first time shooter and a card was issued so that the next visits to the range would be simply presenting the laminated pass (cost $1.00). My buddy who came with me did not have ear protection and was able to purchase ear plugs, but it was not going to work for him. I asked a range official if he had an extra pair of muffs and he immediately made a pair available at no cost to my friend for the duration of our time on the range. This place is a fantastic and fun place to go for the day with a few guys that like to shoot. You have to go to the Marsh Landing restaurant after shooting in Fellsmere. It is a short drive to the west and the food and service is fantastic. The place has lots of taxidermy mounts to admire while dining.

Nice facility but definitely geared to Master class shooters. Very tough targets. Not an enjoyable course for the beginner or intermediate shooter. I have shot there 4 times over the last year and targets have all been the same difficulty. Golf carts are a bit pricey as well.

Now has 18 sporting clays stations. The place is designed and run by world champion Mick Howells. Not an easy or slow course. Makes a lot of the other ones seems really easy. Thats why I practice there as much as possible. Also has two trap stations, 5 stand, skeet. I’ve been to a lot and love this layout. Nice new carts. The dirt road is well maintained, so I hit it at 60 or so. I wouldn’t shoot anywhere else for a home club.

I’m no pro but, not a novice shooter either.. This club is located with quick access off I-95 via State Route 60…However, you must travel a dirt road for about 4 miles before you reach club entrance. So a newly washed car or SUV is not what you want to take and if it recently rained 4 WD might come in Handy…!! The club is not one of your posh shooting resorts… However, the grounds are clean and well maintained. If you are planning to make a day of it you may want to consider taking some refreshments because, not much is available on site…….
But the important stuff is: The sporting clays layout is great. Well thought out 14 station range with fast well placed traps. Nice skeet & trap fields as well. The club staff are friendly & helpful. The carts need some gun racks but other than that this is a nice place for a shotgunner, Especially for sporting clays shooting. I have seen better, but have also been to much worse. This range is worth a try if you’re near Vero Beach or Merrit Island areas.
