I’ve visited and shot at this club off and on for a number of years. Always loved the scenery and the potential for varied targets.
I visited yesterday for the first time since Dan has taken over as manager. Had a great day on the northwoods course with Austin, my trapper. The fall color made the view all the better and I shot well with my new Devault rib on my 682E! I had a great time and have already talked to my pals about car pooling and shooting more often as Dan is committed to changing the target presentations weekly. Gotta like that! Wish I lived closer!

This is not the old KA-TONKA. Dan and Mindy Piel apparently bought this place early this year and have clearly poured a great deal of money into upgrading and improving this facility. I shot the KA-TONKA 200 this weekend (10/13/12) and it was a blast. First time in my recent memory that I shot 200+ Sporting Clays and had nearly no issues. The traps are well maintained; they had a few folks driving around if you had any issues. The club house was super clean and nice. They roasted a whole hog for the event and it was very tasty as well. Dan and Mindy are great; this place is well worth the drive from wherever you are coming from. Strongly recommend KA-TONKA!

I fly in every year for the Sportsman Club. Best atmosphere in the south. Jeff and his family always treat my family like his own. Love this place, think you will too.

I just wanted everybody to know about a hidden jewel here in Missouri.
It’s Ka-Tonka hunting preserve. 7 buddies and I recently went on the
wagon hunt that they offer and had a blast. There is a competition that
can be played while doing the hunt and that made it even more enjoyable. Jeff, Eric and Ted made our hunt extremely enjoyable. The dog
work was great and the birds were strong fliers.
Lunch was chili which is always a great choice while hunting and there was plenty of it. We are already talking about booking a hunt for next year and may include a little sporting clays while were there.

KA-Tonka Sporting clays what a great place to visit!! My family and I spent a week visiting the Hannibal area. As you can only imagine that I need a little time to ” blow off steam” I took a few minutes to look up sporting clay ranges in the area. I came apon the TA-TONKA sporting club. I made the phone call and Jeff answered with a warm welcome and friendly attitude. We spent a little time talking about the course and the lay out. We talked about a few openings that he had, Jeff invited my cousin and I to join 5 of his “regulars”. Once we arrived we where welcomed and greeted by a few dogs a few shooters and also Jeff. Jeff paired up up with Ace and we headed out to the course. On our way out the door Jeff guarantied us a great time! BOY WAS HE CORRECT!!! I shot out of mt A** on a course that I have never been on. Out of 100 clays I shot an 85! Jeff and his staff put on one hell of a great event and I will be back every time I am with in 150 mile of the place.

Ka-Tonka is about a 1 1/2 hours drive from St. Louis. It is a bit of a drive, but every bit worth it. It has all the clay games and excellent hunting including upland, turkey and deer. It is not the fanciest of lodges, but the rural ambiance is fantastic. I started upland hunting there several years ago with my son and have been hooked ever since. I enjoy it because it has that down home feeling and you can get in all the shooting you want in a day without waiting in line. The two sporting clays ranges located in the woods are challanging and prepares you for fall hunting. Once you go there you are never a stranger and the prices are the best I’ve found for the quality and variety. You can shoot anything from a $200 to a $20,000 gun and feel right at home.
