I have to agree with the review I just read from Scott Schelle. CALL AHEAD. We have never been informed of changes in hours. Last winter we shot on Wed or Thurs or Fri. Hours posted on the fence do not say the same times. Summer is over. When is winter? We have driven from Mercedes twice in the past week and not been able to shoot. I just paid another year and nothing on the paperwork indicated any changes in hours from last winter or even list the hours. I would not have joined had I known that we could not shoot on Thursday and Friday. It is usually not convenient for us to come on Saturday or Sunday, so that leaves Wednesday or forget that, the money is wasted. Not a happy member.

I shot here twice during a visit to the area in Dec 2012. The first thing I have to say is don’t pay attention to the open hours on their website. I suggest calling ahead of time to check their hours and if there is a special event going on. Maintaining their website would be a lot of help. This is supposed to be an all volunteer range but I didn’t see any volunteers working or helping out.

Overall I liked the club. The grounds were well maintained but the parking areas weren’t marked very well. The 5-stand is open less than the trap/skeet fields and again, call before going to visit.

There are plans to open a Sporting Clays range if all the red tape can be worked out. If they do, they’ll need to get more help working there. The one person working there wasn’t enough for what is open now. I will visit again when I’m in the area…
