It’s been 3 years since my last visit to Nellis. I was greeted by new manager AL, who really went out of his way to make me feel welcome. I chose to shoot 5-stand, & since it was early morning on a Friday, he came out & pulled birds for me.

His helpful advice & encouragement made for a fun morning. I heartily recommend Nellis Gun Club if you’re in the Las Vegas area…way more fun than blackjack!

There is a lady working in the office named Jane and I’ve got to say… She’s the most helpful and friendly person I’ve ever had the pleasure of ordering firearms from. I ordered a certain part and when it arrived she promptly gave me a call to let me know it was in and then personally drove to the guard gate to let me on base. She walked me through the whole process of my background check and made me feel like a friend and not a customer. I don’t know how things work at this club, but she definitaly deserves a raise!

This is a great club to shoot at. The clays course uses the natural desert terrain to enhance the realism of the shots. Its not just a flat boring field as so many are. It is constantly changed to remain fresh. The 5 stand is also fun to shoot. They recently added several more trap ranges. If you are a civilian they will need to come get you at the gate, so e-mail and/or call ahead. The club is at the North end of base gate #2 across from the speedway on Las Vegas Blvd North. It’s a casual fun place to shoot at.

Took a group of six new shooters (including one from Finland and another from Canada) to the club on Saturday. The clubhouse is small, but the shooting facilities are very nice – and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

We spent the morning on the 5-Stand field and had a great time. There was a nice variety of target presentations and the equipment functioned perfectly. The cost of the targets was reasonable, $0.24 ea.

All in all, a very nice club and I will definitely go back when returning to the area.

Note: A staff member recommended emailing the names of our party ahead of time, which sped up our entry onto the military base where the club is located.

I am writing this review because I feel I had to. My gun club in Las Vegas was forced to close by the state. This left a lot of others members and myself without a home or a club to go to, Nellis gun club welcomed us to their facility. I have found everybody up there to be very friendly and easy to get along with the staff are knowledgeable and accommodating I know I’m going to enjoy my time at this facility. To the staff and friends up there thank you we new members appreciate you and your facility.

My cousin from PA and long time friend from CO and myself from CA were in Las Vegas Dec 4, 2009 and wanted to shoot some sporting clays. We couldn’t of picked a friendlier place to spend our time. The course was challenging but shootable. Even an incident with my rental car couldn’t dampen our time spent there. Everyone was very helpful. Easy access from the strip is also a plus.

I had the honor of representing the navy skeet team here at an armed forces skeet match prior to 9/11. A great time was had by all. If you need practicing in high wind…This is the place for you! When it blows, it blows and will sand blast you! Being so flat, nellis has a perfect backdrop…FLAT in all directions. Go and enjoy!

My first trip to the Nellis skeet fields were prior to 9/11. The facilities were terrific and so were the staff. We had a great time shooting there and wanted to come back on our next visit. I lost my cell phone that day and did not know where it was. When I arrived home got a call from a club employee who told me he found the phone. He shipped it to me Fedex and wouldn’t even let me pay for the shipping.

My second visit was a bit disappointing about three or four months after 9/11. The facilities and people were still there and great, but getting in was real hassle because of all the security. I can’t blame anyone but the terrorist for this. The way it sounded was like the public was soon to be out.

Having read the reviews here today I will certainly visit again next time in town. Now that the hysteria is over I’ll bet it will be as good as the first time. Living in New Jersey we all know what range closures is like. I’m so glad to see this didn’t happen at Nellis. By the way the best place to shoot skeet in New Jersey is Fort Dix. My congratulations to the military for keeping these places open to the public. We really appreciate it.

The wife and I visited the Nellis Trap and Skeet Club during our recent visit to Las Vegas. They could not have been more hospitable and accommodating. If your in the area and looking for a place to spend some quality shooting time I highly recommend this facility.

Visited the club today and joined up! I was welcomed, and included in a sporting clays shoot with 5 other new friends I hadn’t met before my visit. As a total newcomer to the sport (never having shot a shotgun in my life before today), I was helped greatly by the folks I went out with. As a result I enjoyed myself immensely, and can’t wait to get back out and shoot some more. You don’t have to be an experienced shooter to have a great time with these folks! I even managed not to miss all the targets!

I shot Sporting Clays at Nellis AFB in February 2007. I was in Vegas on business and made arrangements in advance. I was treated as a life long friend and thoroughly enjoyed the course. The combination of lay out and high winds made for a challenging day. Can’t wait until my next visit.

24 people from Northern Utah drove nearly 500 miles to shoot at Nellis Sporting clays course. We were given false information on their brochure, and treated very rudely, and never were allowed to shoot the course. Don’t expect to see us in the near future.

My wife and I visited the club in November, 2004, to sample their sporting clays course, and we were not disappointed. From the guards at the gate to club management, everyone was quite courteous and accommodating. My wife is a member of the Wright-Patt Rod & Gun Club, and the Nellis club graciously honored her membership and allowed us to shoot at member rates. The course offers a nice variety of target presentations and takes full advantage of the landscape for trap positioning. As an NSCA instructor, I see a lot of targets on different courses. The targets at Nellis are challenging, but breakable for shooters of most skill levels. If you like shooting in a relaxed, low key atmosphere give Nellis a try. We certainly enjoyed it, and will go back again.

The Nellis Gun Club has 12 skeet fields with four of them overlayed for trap. We hold several large skeet shoots each year. We recently held the Zone 7 skeet shoot (Sept 15-19) attended by over 180 shooters. We do not schedule ATA ro PITA trap shoots. Our trap ranges are primarily practice. We have an eleven station sporting clays range on the foothills of Sunrise Mountain. The original course was laid out by Dan Mitchell. Several stations have hidden traps. The course is changed on a monthly basis. We schedule several fun shoots and “skins games” throughout the year.
