George and Butch are fine hosts and OFSC is a great place to shoot. When my Dad was able to join us he thoroughly enjoyed the course, the challenge and the company. Thanks guys for a great experience every year.

Pros: Beautiful setup. Well maintained. Very reasonable prices.
Cons: Woman who runs it can be pretty grumpy. You must use a trapper if one is available.
The facility is beautiful; flat, wooded, and well maintained. They have a well laid out (largely shaded) course as well as 5 stand and wobble available. Rates are reasonable and you can rent a gun and a golf cart if you need to. You can also buy ammo, eye & ear protection and anything else you might have forgotten.
The facility manager drives around frequently correcting anyone who is not being 100% safety conscious. They take safety seriously and I can appreciate that. I have never felt unsafe there.
The woman at the counter can seem pretty gruff at times, but she’s really nice once you get past the roughness. In spite of that, I often meet very nice folks out on the course – usually, much better shooters than I am. The environment as a whole is really friendly.
My only real complaint is that they apparently support a lot of the local youth. Young men and women will act as trappers for you basically walking the course and pushing the button to throw clays when you call “pull” (virtually all throwers are remotely actuated). While I appreciate them helping the kids out, I hate feeling obligated to tip them when some don’t add much to the experience.

Nice sporting clays course. Nice people, been there twice this fall 2014 and will go back.

Great range, have been there a handful of times and have always been happy with the targets. Don’t let the ornery lady that works in the office scare you off, once you get past her everyone is very nice and helpful.

The targets are good. George is friendly and nice to talk to. But the woman who works in the shop has the worst attitude I have ever encountered. I will never return. There are other places to spend your money. Definitely not a place I would recommend as long as She works there.

This was our first visit to Old Forge Sporting Clays and it was our first time shooting for many in our group. I highly recommend this club to anyone seeking a pleasant afternoon of shooting! Even though our group had seven participants the friendly and helpful people made the experience a memorable one.

Everytime I have been there it has been a great experience! The staff is really helpful and glad to see you. They are knowledgeable and friendly. you feel they appriciate your business. The equipment on the sporting was well kept and maintained, so they operated with no breakdowns, malfunctions,or misthorws. (Too bad I can’t say the same for my shooting!)
Great time, great course, great staff.

I visited last October, and what a great course! The leaves were beautifully colored and the course had many stations of varying difficulty. I spent about 3 hours shooting targets and would be stopping by weekly if I lived locally. If you like to shoot sporting clays and are in the Richmond area, stopping by Old Forge Sporting Clays is a must!

My trip was a fathers day gift from my daughter and son-in-law. Great idea! It sure beats a shirt and tie. I had a lot of fun. We won’t mention my score since I’m shooting challenged. I made the other guys look mighty good. It’s the challenge that’s fun and every station presented a different challenge, especially for me. Shooting from the towers was really cool. I can’t wait to go again. Next time you hear somebody say they don’t know what kind of gift to get someone, tell them about this place. It’s great! Whether they can shoot or not, IT’ FUN!! The staff was nice and helpful. The water coolers at each station really helped. It was 90 degrees but there was plenty of shade.

Wow! Old Forge Sporting Clays was recommended to me by a fellow shooter. While on vacation in the area, I stopped by and was pleasantly surprised. Nice targets that you can see, course was well laid out, and friendly people running the place. Not too many terrain changes, but they took advantage of towers and platforms to make things interesting. I would definitely visit again.

Wow! A fine facility with great staff to boot. I was treated like I shot there every week, instead of just for the first time. This place is a must visit for those clay shooters on a Southeast Virginia vacation. There is something for all shotgun disciplines. I can’t wait until I go to Virginia Beach or Williamsburg again.

A great place to shoot anytime. The personal are great to deal with, and they are very generous about helping with all youth clubs fund raisers. WE take our youth 4H there often and are never disappointed with course. THANKS TO YOU ALL

This place was plush. People are nice, little expensive. The five stand and wobble trap are the nicest that i have seen and there are ton of sporting clays stations. I would suggest this place if you are looking to make a full day or a weekend of shooting.

Great spot. Nice course with realistic shots for hunting situations. The wobble trap is a blast! We did a team building day here for our Richmond Distributor and were able to use the pavilion after the shoot and have a few ice cold Magic Hats. Sunday fun shoots are also a good time and they make the course a bit easier for these.

I highly recommend this club to anyone seeking a pleasant afternoon of shooting! Fantastically friendly and helpful people and a first rate facility. The trappers are far and away the best I have ever used and the targets are challenging but fair. If you are in the area don’t miss this one!
