This club has made constant improvements over the last several yrs and the indoor range geared toward rifle and handgun is far superior to the trap and 5-Stand ranges. They have one trap field which on the weekends makes for over an hour wait in between rounds(25 shots). The 5-Stand is underutilized and the biggest reason is it’s poorly laid out. The shot sequences make no sense and it’s clear the person setting the traps has no 5-Stand or Sporting Clays experience.

As Mike Smith said, the club is very friendly to new shooters. Both staff and other shooters have been helpful and good company. The facility is in development mode though the trap and five stand are set up and running. The position shown on the map for this club is a little off: take the short road slightly West of mark and drive through the quarry to the P2K gate at the end of the road.
Hopefully skeet will be added in the future and those of us in San Diego County won’t have to drive outside the county to other ranges.

I am new to the shotgunning sports and have not been to any other ranges.
But Project 2000 is a great place to shoot for me. I mostly shoot trap and throw in the occasional 5 stand just for fun. Lately they have set up a doubles trap which looks like a lot of fun.
The people who run the facility are very friendly and extremely helpful for a newbie like myself. The members and other patrons I have met there shooting have been fantastic as well.
In addition to the Shotgun ranges they also have indoor and outdoor firing ranges up to 100yds. They also have an archery range if that floats your boat.
If your ever in the San Diego area taking the family to the Zoo or Sea World and you need to get your fix shooting head out to Project 2000. IMHO I don’t think you will be disappointed
