We travel in an RV, we just spent 2 days shooting at Powder Creek. We shoot all over the US. Powder Creek is a Premier shooting facility, the sporting clays courses are set up for all shooters, from beginners to the professional. They are very well maintained and clean. The staff is super, extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back whenever our travels bring us this way.

For decades, Powder Creek has been a quality shooting facility staffed by professional staff who understand customer service. In recent years, their game has greatly improved under the leadership of Kevin Danciak the ever-present club manager. As an upland bird hunter I visit Trap and Skeet fields less frequently favoring instead Sporting Clays. The SC course at Powder Creek is scenically situated among indigenous Kansas hardwoods and conifers. Just walking the course provides a reprieve from nearby suburban hustle. Situated along a one mile loop of well-maintained cart path shooters will find two SC courses of 12 red (harder), and 12 blue (easier) stations. This affords all levels of shooters a great variety of presentations. Trap, skeet 5-Stand, an archery range, a patterning area and a fishing pond complete Powder Creek’s offerings. All this is complemented by an adequate, well-maintained clubhouse where you can relax with friends, purchase ammunition and rent carts.

While traveling through the area decided to try the course as it was one of the only ones open on a cold Friday. Very nice facility, reasonably priced, targets were difficult particularly on a cloudy day and with a dark backdrop due to the season (early April). Enjoyed the course. All stations and machines functioned without problem. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I would recomend a golf cart as you walk down hill for some distance and then of course up hill for the remainder of the course. Convenient and easy to find. I will be returning when I am in the area again.

We always shoot Powder Creek when we are visiting in the Kansas city area. My wife and I are avid sporting clays shooters and have shot many ranges. Powder Creek certainly ranks with the best ranges available. Friendly people and a course typically layed out for the recreational shooter, not too difficult, but still challenging enough. Thirteen stations, with two traps per station, so you get the challenge of many different birds. This is a good course for a cart as it is a fairly long walk around, especially if it is hot. I highly recommend You give Powder Creek a try!

I shoot this course regularly all year long. We have a great sporting course and the targets get changed about every 3 weeks or so. Our skeet and trap fields are well maintained and very well lit for evening shooting. Everyone at this club is very friendly and eager to help new shooters improve their skills. Early on I received lessons from three different coaches out here; Don Stevens, Jerry Veneklasen and John Francis. All are great coaches, but Don teaches only Skeet while Jerry and John teach any and all disciplines. If you’re in the area, give Powder Creek a shot!

A friend of mine and I were in the Kansas City area and wanted to shoot trap & skeet for a couple hours over the weekend. Before going there, I used the Claytargetsonline.com search engine to find a club in the area that had what we wanted. I contacted Dan Buwie, the Manager. He was friendly and hospitable on the phone and welcomed us to come whenever we liked. On arrival, the Powder Creek Shooting Park has a beautiful facility with Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays and both Dan and the other members welcomed us and made it easy for us to use the ranges. They have a great clubhouse and the rental prices for non-members were very reasonable. This was a great find just on the basis of the facility alone, but to be treated so cordially by the other members in a large, clean clubhouse with all the fixin’s was an extra bonus. What a find! And a great bunch of guys.

I enjoy the sporting clay course. They have updated it over the years, it is one of the more challenging courses I have shot.

My wife had shooting leasons there with one of the lady instructors. Our instructor, Laura, was great, very informitive, and was great at helping my wife with comfort with a gun and shooting. We have visited the course a time or two as a couple, and am glad to see that we are not the ‘lone’ couple shooting there. On weekends you almost always see a few women shooting with squads, and this brings great comfort to my wife when she joins us.

I recommend the club and course, they have very nice facilities. All the throwers on the sporting clay course are remote controlled, so your squad goes at their speed and do not require a thrower to go with you on the shoot. They have water out on the course when it is hot, have a clubhouse with a grill, and have a great staff and members that make you feel at home.
