Read many questionable reviews but was close to my house so decided to set up a corporate event with 20 pheasant hunters. Ran into multiple problems that other customers should be aware of. 1. I called a week after I placed a reservation to confirm and they had lost it, only to call me later saying they found it. Seemed like a very sloppy process. 2. Was told to register at 11:45 for a hunt from 12-3. At 11:10 an employee approached our group and told us to hurry up and make our way to the fields. Explained we were waiting for 1 person and our reservation was for 12. He said “Well I don’t want to be here till 5 oclock so get going”. When he led us to the meeting area to head out a helicopter was flying low over head. He walked away into the road and held up two middle fingers and stood there for about 30 seconds. Was so ridiculous we all got a laugh but not a way to run a business. Still have no idea what he was doing. 3. Hunting was fair but birds tended to run not fly. We had a decent time though. 4.The employee that cleaned our birds had a nice swastika tattoo. Wasn’t the friendliest guy but had no problems. That and the run down appearance of the place didn’t add to the charm. Owner apologized at the end for the service so I didn’t leave feeling angry but won’t likely go back. Was fine for a bachelor party with low expectations but not someplace for a corporate event or a place I would take my son to. All in all similar to other reviews.

Due to price and location, I’ve hunted this facility many times over the years, and for many years held a traditional family Thanksgiving morning hunt here. I always grudgingly participated, as I personally found the facility dirty and ill kept, and the service horrible from an unfriendly staff. I’ve personally experienced the demeaning, humiliating, and frankly shameful behavior of the owner – described in other reviews on this site. After many bad experiences, culminating in a trip similar to another listed on this site – lost reservations on the day of the hunt (reservations made well in advance of our hunt and confirmed several times by various members of our group)- I vowed never to return. Great decision. I’ve since been to other hunting farms that I feel provide much better service and atmosphere. My advice – don’t waste your time or money here.

This was my first time going here. Went early to get some breakfast which was excellent. Then we followed the employee to our field, nice fields. After they placed our pheasants, we started our hunt. Had a great time we went 19/20. Went back to clubhouse where they will clean the birds for small price. then headed home. Definitely will be back good staff, facility, and the food.

This is a classic example of a business being run half ass and expecting you to be satisfied with a less than good experience. We used to shoot at Powderbourne on a regular basis but had not been there in a few years. We decided to give it a try again with a crew of 5 shooters. The first problem was the price has been raised to $45 from the $40 that was on the website. This is the highest price for 100 targets I know of locally. If you shoot in the Northeast we have M&M and Lehigh Valley to compare to and they don’t even charge $45. You must go over to the restaurant to check in and pay in advance. They have no ammo or any equipment for sale or rent so bring everything you need. You must make a reservation so they have a trapper ready. Our trapper was a little long in the tooth and did a poor job of communicating what the targets were going to be and several traps were breaking targets to the point we had to move on. There are no signs at the stations to tell you what the targets are going to be. Most of the traps are manual and the pace of shooting is very slow, It took 5 of us 3&1/2 hours to get our round done. The course is poorly maintained with loose rocks, exposed tree roots and downed branches all along the trail. There are no carts for rent so be prepared to walk and carry all your gear. Some of the terrain is not level and the shooting locations are on uneven terrain. We felt like we were going to topple out of the shooting box on more than one station. I say box because all they had for a shooting station was a box of 4×4 pressure treated timbers laid on the ground. Some of the targets were unreasonably close with a small window to shoot in to the point of being ridiculous. Many of the targets were on the ground before an average shooter could even get on them. To sum up it has gone downhill and appears the restaurant and maybe the bird hunting is the main focus. All in all I was very disappointed in our Powderbourne experience and will not be returning.

The place is getting old, need of repair. But the food is good, the price for pheasant is way over our heads now we are going to cut back, we went three times a year now we are only going maybe one time maybe-#100 bucks for 5 birds is tooooo much.

We made reservations for a mid-day Sporting Clay round for 4. My son, Jason, and his wife were visiting home after a 12-month tour in Afghanistan. Powderbourne could not find a record of our reservation, but was able to find a trapper. We opted for a practice round of trap while waiting, but the 5 Stand trap was broken. We went to shoot skeet, but the traps wouldn’t throw half the distance to regulation. the trapper said they never work when it is cold, but we shot anyway.
We had gun dogs on leash near our car when a guy pulled up on quad and yelled at us not to scare dogs with gun fire. We wanted to rent a cart for our gear, but they have never heard of them. The guy on the quad pulled up and yelled at us because our dogs were barking and he hates barking dogs. He warned us not to let our dogs kill his cats or we would have to pay. We met the nice trapper, who informed us the three rabbit traps were broken and two other traps were stolen, but he was ready to go soon.
Before we put our leashed dogs in the car prior to shooting our round, the guy in the quad yelled at us not to go near the bird pens with dogs. We asked him if he was the owner and he said he was and was a Vietnam Vet.

We enjoyed our round of trap, but was disappointed there was no pro shop or ammo available. The restaurant looked good but we were running late and passed on trying it out.

We would have liked to try the preserve with the dogs, but we got tired of the owner yelling at the customers. He said he has to yell because no one ever listens to him. We recommend you NOT bring dogs to this hunting preserve as the owner doesn’t seem to like dogs or customers!

As the weekday manager of Suffolk Trap, Skeet & Sporting Clays we decided to make the trip west for a day of pheasant shooting. We made reservations for two guides with dogs and two fields. The day was GREAT. We had twenty birds put out per field and the dogs put up more than that. Even though two of us were fighting severe colds it was worth the trip. My instructor remained at the skeet range with his son and shot a few rounds of skeet, Myself and one of my friends headed home to fight the colds… Fields were great, guides were great, restaurant was great, we will be back. Rates are the best in driving distance to NY and the hunt and facility are real nice. Thanks to Sal our retired PD K9 guide, you and your dog were top notch. Hopefully we will see you before it is over.

I went to powderbourne this afternoon and I had a very good experience. I went and my shoulder is bruised from how much I shot because it is so cheap. 6 dollars for 25 clay pigeons and the faculty was very nice. Great place to practice for young hunters like my self.

It was my first experience for bird hunting. The folks were very friendly, the dog guide George was excellent. His dog Tasha worked very hard for more than three hours non stop. Will visit again.

Grounds were okay and sporting clay course was average. Trapper was nice but not very professional. $30/50 and $40/100 was $10 more that I typically pay. Skeet was pretty reasonable $5/25. No pro-shop, so don’t forget anything (ammo, ear protection, etc). Took all credit cards. All in, the facility could use some up keep if the owners are going to charge a premium.

This facility was ok. You have to go into the restaurant to tell them you want to shoot. This was not all to bad because the food is good. But kind of strange non the less. Course is average at best. Had some good targets but most were average. Trapper was nice and did his best to give good targets. $40 for 100 was a little pricey in my opinion. Skeet housed looked to be old and one low house was in-operable because it just caught fire.

I shoot skeet at Powderbourne every Saturday morning. I’ve only started shooting skeet two months ago. The people I shoot with at this facility are second to none. Still very much a beginner, they welcomed me with open arms. The people at Powderbourne are always willing to give you a hand, offer excellent advice ( to me, that’s very helpful ), and just treat you like one of there own. I’ve only shot there sporting clays course one time but, what a time we had. Beautiful restaurant. Dinning inside or out. You can see the skeet range from their outside dining facility. If you get the chance to go, I would recommend this facility very highly. If you have never shot skeet before, this place is the place you definitely want to visit. As I said before, the people here are more than happy to help anyone who has never shot skeet before. I’m so glad i took the time to go. I can’t imagine a Saturday morning not shooting with those wonderful people i have met there.

The course is called PowderBourne. I used to think this was a great small gauge course but, everything changed. They added some stations and the course became a little much for my 28 gauge. Targets come from various angles. Rabbits, field, woods and some pretty cool platform targets. There is skeet, 5 stand, and a great place to eat at PowderBourne.
