Staff were great and very helpful and the course is ok nothing special, what is ridiculous is the price, the course in no way justifies this kind of expenditure. Save your money and visit some of the really great courses the state has to offer. I won’t be back and sorry I wasted the time money and effort.

Went there with some friends, the grounds are nice and the clubhouse is great. Manager was very welcoming. Did a round of 100 of sporting clay. The field itself could use some work, but the worst part was that half (yes, actually half) of the machines did not function correctly. This place is expensive and for the prices we payed to play, I would have expected every machine to work. I’m not going back there because it is too expensive for what it is.

Course is OK. Nothing special. We had actually been here a few years prior and I had forgotten that it was private and that the prices are ridiculous. We paid 68 cents per clay $136 for two of us to shoot a round. The cart was an extra $12 per person! This time I will remember never to go back to this place.

I really enjoy the landscape at RB. Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, so it is hilly and is a great place to shoot in the fall.
However I do not enjoy the price of clays. This is the most expensive place I have shot. The 50 clay sports course costs $42.50. I would be OK with the the price if everything else was top notch but I am afraid I can not say that either. There is only one sporting clay course with 12 stands. Of all my times doing the course (more than 10 times) I have never had all the stands working. Most of the time 2 or 3 stands are down completely. I have had up to 4 down. The thing that gets me is that I am paying a lot more than I usually pay at other places, which have more than 1 sporting course, and this course can not be maintained.
If you passing by and want to shoot I would recommend shooting at RB. If you’re a local, and it pains me to say it, I would recommend going to Spartanburg Gun Club and paying $30 for 100 clays. Not nearly as pretty but it is a lot cheaper and in my experience the stands are working properly and if not the staff will fix them asap.

River Bend is a great place to enjoy a day. Ralph is an accommodating and gracious host and the River Bend staff are always helpful and very nice. The targets are usually challenging, and the course is well maintained. I go shoot and spend time at this beautiful facility as often as I can.

Great place. The lodge is top notch and the course was very nice. The remote control on the throwers made if very easy and enjoyable. The food was very good. The lodge would be a perfect place for a corporate retreat. Pool table, poker table, big screen TV, and a great fireplace. If you are looking for a place to get away and have fun this is on top of my list.

River Bend is a superb, upscale sporting clays facility. I’ve been to many clays courses across the NC/SC region and this is one of the best. It’s managed extremely well, with an attentive staff, a beautiful lodge of the type you would expect to find in Montana and a great Southern lunch when in season. They also have a well stocked pro shop with just about anything you need.
The clays course is extensive and challenging and has electronic-operated throwers with remote controls. This is nice for taking extra birds (the remotes keep track of them) and avoids the hassle of having a person tag along to manually operate the machines. In addition to the clays course, there is a dedicated skeet field and a covered five-stand course (which comes in handy in inclement weather).
I’ve attended two corporate retreats at this facility and both went over very well. It’s probably one of the few clays courses in the region that can also accommodate a large party very easily.
The only downside is the cost. River Bend is quite expensive compared to other clays courses in the region but, as with a lot of things in life, you get what you pay for. That’s certainly the case with this facility. Bottom line, it is worth the drive. Given the distance to Charlotte (about 1.3 hours each way), I don’t often get down there. But when I do, I always have to remind myself that it was well worth the wait.

Great shooting course and lodge.
The course offered a variety of shooting situations that varied from simple to complex.
Gun rentals and ammunition are avilable at the lodge.
Staff was great and lunch can be arranged for groups. Our lunch consisted of grilled pork chops, grilled chicken, mashed taters, green beans, lima beans, pecan pie, lemon pie, coffee and tea.
