Rockcastle Sporting Clays was the last of the three Sporting Clay ranges that we visited over a four day weekend, while attending the 2015 NRA Annual Show in Nashville, TN. The range was a huge disappointment, there was clear neglect of care for the range. The clay pigeons were bleached by the sun, half of the throwers did not work, the path was overgrown and hard to follow, and at the stations you would be walking on empty hulls which have clearly been there for some time (just un-kept). The course has potential, but has been clearly mismanaged!
That being said, we told the receptionist at the desk of our disgust with the course and they handled it professionally. They did not charge us for the cart rental, or for any of the clays we used. They informed us that they had hired a new care taker for the course and are experiencing problems.
My advice to someone who is planning on visiting this course, is wait for a local review or call ahead and see if the course has been closed or new management of the course has been appointed.
