Jack Costello is constantly improving his sporting clay course, set the deep, cool, shady woods in Morgan County, WV. Every time I can get a couple of hours to go over that way, there are more challenging arrangements. There is a “rabbit” set up at the bottom of a deep ravine that is a mind-boggler.
But Jack’s helpful attitude never seems to change. As a shotgun instructor, he has the patience of a saint, a keen eye for observation, and the depth of experience to know exactly what to say to you to help you get better. Plus the other shooters present, at least the times I have shot, haven’t had the “attitude” I find on some ranges if you aren’t a grade B or grade A shooter.
But even if self-improvement isn’t high on your priority list, you can still have great fun at Sleepy Creek. The beauty of the drive over Sleepy Creek Wildlife Mgmt Area (mountain) from I-81 or up the narrow valley from I-70 is a bonus.
