Shot sporting clays here in January. Two courses allowed us to select a mix of easy, tough, and nearly impossible (FITASC) targets. Well-kept grounds and equipment, friendly people. Great experience all-around. Plan to return next year.

Well I finally got the chance to make the drive to Tampa Bay Sporting Clays and it was well worth it. As the manager of Suffolk Trap, Skeet & Sporting Clays in NY, I was impressed with the overall operation of TBSC. I was greeted at the check in area by Stephanie, who showed me where everything was from the facilities to the shooting courses. She was very helpful and invited me to shoot the 3D archery course with her friend when I was done on sporting clays. But I didn’t want to hold them up if I shot more sporting clays then I intended. Which I did!
The courses; red, blue and yellow were all great. They said they were a little soft, but I enjoyed all the targets and the presentations were challenging. They are hosting a General Norman Schwarzkopf shoot tomorrow, so for them to even have the courses open with all the prep going on was beyond me. But they managed and worked around any shooters that were there.
After shooting a lot of clays, I went into the office and turned in the key and asked to shoot 3D archery. I brought all the toys for a day of fun in the sun. I was pointed in the right direction and sent out to 3D. It was as good as the clays courses. I think I had Mike, one of the owners come by and chat. Real nice people. Southern Hospitality at it’s best. We talked about clays and 3D, from shooting to bowhunting and it gave me a real chance to rest an already pair of sore shoulders.
On my way in, Stephanie’s friend had arrived with her bow and Stephanie asked if I would like to join her friend for another round of 3D, but I was shot out.
Stephanie then introduced me to the other owner at the clubhouse, Bill I believe his name was and we had a nice chat about NY vs Fl ranges. Bill you win in my eyes, hands down. 240+ acres is a hard number to beat: add 3 clay courses, 3D and stationary targets out to 40 yards and you guys are really impressive.
So if you’re in the Tampa area, make the hour drive north. This place has it all. From Bill and Mike, the owners, to Staphanie at the front desk and Steve the instructor, I personally can’t ask for a better place to shoot all my passions; sporting clays and 3D in the same arena.JUST GREAT.
Thanks to all at TBSC’s, it was a pleasure and I will be back.

It is now called the Tampa Sporting Club. It was my first Visit for a NSCA Registered Shoot. The surroundings are beautiful and you shoot on the shade, which is valuable in ‘Sunny Florida” in the summer. The staff was delightful and the birds were challenging as the “parcours” was designed by the World Champion Steve Middletich (UK) .
There is a new ventilated agreeable pavilion. Being French, the food could be better. Specially if this club welcomes in 2012 FITASC World Championship.
Go there the new owners are doing their best!

I had a very poor experience at this facility. Staff was incredibly rude, facility was small and dirty and they expect you to know all the intricate details of their facility (i.e. no mention of the need to reserve golf cart, etc). I would recommend taking your business elsewhere because they sure don’t appreciate it at Deer Creek Sporting Clays. Save your time and money.

Nice people. Was my first time ever shooting. Roger showed me how to stand and hold the gun. Two other people with me have been there before. After we were finished he stood and talked with us in the office…. really nice guy. Made me want to look up places in GA to shoot!

I and three of my coworkers went to an event at this facility because it was sponsored by a company that we have a professional relationship with. None of us had fired a shotgun in many years, and were apprehensive about what the experience was going to be like. Not only was it absolutely great but we loved it, and it turns out we all shot much better than we thought we would! We all have nothing but the best to say about the facility and its owners. We were on the white course, and it was totally enjoyable. I only wish it wasn’t so far away from where we live!

Very nice course layouts – some very tricky ones, some very realistic presentations….Roger has a nice place….our group will be back

There is not enough positive things I can say about Roger, Cathy, and Deer Creek. Roger and Cathy bent over backwards to get a group of us (17 total shooters) time on one of their three courses. We were in town on a Monday, a day they were supposed to be closed for maintenance, and they still welcomed us with open arms. Cathy was very knowledgeable and informative at the orientation meeting (we had a number of new shooters). Some of our more experienced shooters found the white course easy, so Cathy opened up part of the Blue course (intermediate) to us! Such great people! The white course is certainly a way to get people interested in the sport without turning them off with a challenging course. Like Cathy said at the end of the day, we may have created some new sporting clay addicts! Thank you, thank you, thank you Roger and Cathy! You and your facility are the best!

My brother and I shot two hundred targets at Deer Creek this morning and had a great time. The facility has ammo for sale and guns for rent and we found the staff there to be friendly and helpful. The three separate courses range from fairly easy to quite difficult and the multi-stack trap machines are all modern and dependable. The courses are laid out on sandy trails through a wooded area with lots of pines and shade. They have golf carts to rent but we found the walking to be easy and quite pleasant. The automated system controlling the trap machines allows everyone to throw their own targets and, as long as you can operate something no more complicated than a toaster, is very simple to use. You plug in the portable counter at each station, push the button(s) for the desired target(s), and then unplug the counter when ready to move to the next station.
We really liked having the opportunity to spend as much or as little time as we wanted on any given station or target. We enjoyed the shooting very much and will be going back often to shoot a lot more.

I visited Deer Creek Sporting Clays on 5/31/06 and thoroughly enjoyed my shoot. The people were extremely friendly and accommodating. I didn’t bring my own gun, from NJ, and had to rent one. I picked from a couple of O/U guns to find one that fit and found an older model German made 12 ga. I had some concerns because I have shoulder problems, but the person (I didn’t write his name down) told me that this gun and the low recoil ammo would be okay for me. Well, I went out and shot 100 rounds and couldn’t get back fast enough for another 100. When he saw me come in he said “let me guess, you want another 4 boxes of shells”. We talked a bit about the course and out I went. All in all it was a beautiful course, well run and maintained. I will definitely be back, preferably when the love bugs are not so prevalent. To the staff at Deer Creek thank you for providing this fine facility and making this traveling shooters feel very welcome.

Last week I took my family to Tampa FL for a long weekend vacation. I looked for a place to find Sporting Clays on this website and found this location. When I left a message at the phone number, the manager called me back to confirm that I did not need a reservation and the site did rent guns, as I was flying in from Pennsylvania. Unfortunately when I got there the two ladies behind the desk were less than excited to see an out-of-towner. They did go over the rules but it took me two or three stands to figure out how to work the automated thrower system.
Overall it is a nice course with 3 different “courses” for you to choose your experience level. Walking is really not an option on this course, rent a cart and take less time to travel from one stand to another unless you enjoy walking long distances and sweating with a gun on your shoulder.
This is a decent course, but definitely not “high end” as far as I am concerned.

This is a “Class A” facility. I’ve been there twice and it is run to the highest standards. The course itself is beautiful and offers targets for shooters of different skill levels. They typically have some of their employees cruising the course to see if you need help with anything and to make sure the traps are working properly. And the staff is very friendly and professional. I highly recommend this course.

I went away for 2 weeks with the family, I did sneak away for one day and went to this club. I brought my father n law with me. Earl had never seen S/C before.
The club was set up north of Land O lakes Fla. The club was set on a great peace of land, with a lot of trees and cover to make interesting shots and able to hide the traps. The course is open to the public, they welcomed me to shoot. Their course is one you can run on your own they give you a box or card to run the birds. Then they count the # of birds you shot and you pay when you are done. It was nice to shoot in a T shirt.
I started out on the easy course. It was fun. I met up with TEAM BUBBA They were a great group of shooters, and they too welcomed me to shoot with them. Team Bobba told me that they did the tour around Fla..
I moved onto the harder course and made my father n law smile a lot. He told me I guess this is the harder course and you need a little more practice. We then moved on to the five stand and it had a little challenge to it.
All in all it was a great day and any day shooting is a good day.
I had a friend post Pic on his web site http://www.losttarget.com If you would like to look please do so!
