Shot a round of sporting clays today. Wow. Great personal service. We were given first class treatment. Will go back again. Really, really nice.

We visited the Spring Bank Sporting Club at Barnsley Gardens on a beautiful spring, Friday afternoon. I had heard the Club had a reputation for being quite luxurious…and it was. As a first time visitor it was very easy to get distracted by all the amenities that the resort has too offer, and I’ll have to return and sample all their resort offerings.

The Spring Bank sporting club was great. The resort property is fantastic, and the club house is in a fantastic cabin, complete with pro shop, refreshments, and a covered screened porch to sit and visit while you await the arrival of all your shooters. The staff running the pro shop where very helpful and wanted to make sure everyone had a great time.

The shooting course is on the western edge of the resort, so you have to drive a short distance from the club house to the starting position and cart parking. So there is no running back to the clubhouse, and the staff made sure we had everything before we left the clubhouse.

The course was recently set for their spring registered clays event, scheduled for the day after we shot. The clays were great ! There were several stations that were too challenging for our group of beginners, but we enjoyed the challenge and fellowship as we tried to figure out how to shoot those tough ones. In the end, we shot respectfully and enjoyed the course.

After shooting, we enjoyed drinks in the bar, and dinner in the Woodlands Grille. I recommend you plan on this too. Dinner in the Woodlands Grille is something you don’t want to miss, and I suggest you sit on the patio if the weather permits.

In summary, this certainly is a wonderful place, with much more that just shooting. The shooting is great, the staff is very helpful, the price is good too. Yes, I little more expensive than other clubs, but well worth the money for the luxurious factors. I recommend you visit. This is a five star shooting destination.

Wow. I would highly recommend this club to anyone who is looking for a wonderful experience. Beginning with Donna, the Director of Outdoor activities, who made me feel so very welcome and arranged for a lesson with no advance notice. And Lyle, who in an hour took me from questioning whether I wanted to continue to feeling that there wasn’t a shot I couldn’t make. Thank you.

Looking for a great time try Barnsley Gardens

Absolutely beautiful place!! The service is incredible! Seems like it is out in the middle of no where, but that makes it even more special. We were running a little late and wanted to get something to eat. Instead of pushing back or cutting short our shooting time we went on out to the course and they brought our food to us. As if that wasn’t enough they gave us a 4×4 golf cart to take so we didn’t have to carry our food. The sporting clays facility is a bit of a throw back in that the launchers are all manually operated by the guide. Having a guide with you at all times is also a little unusual these days. These guides are all trained instructors and if prompted will be happy to share tips and pointers. Our guide was named Randy and he was excellent. I highly recommend shooting at this facility.

This is one of the nicest places to shoot sporting clays anywhere, period. Many of the stands are over picturesque water (old Bauxite mines long since filled with water). Take a camera with you. This is a great facility for a corporate or family group. If you like, everything can be provided. They have 12 and 20 Berettas. The staff is great and can handle any level shooting skill, including none. They have a really interesting wooden deck overlooking a large pond. You can set up maybe 5 shooters at once while they throw birds from four or five locations around you. Great fun. Many presentations, including a challenging shot from a hill where you are shooting down on the bird over water. It’s worth the money.

The accommodations at the inn are world class and are also ideal for a corporate off site meeting. Good place to go for an anniversary weekend. They have golf and a great spa as well as two fine restaurants.
