Spent this past summer in Newberry and while there visited this club in hopes of finding a place to shoot trap. However the guys in this club introduced me to skeet and I became a dedicated, but novice, skeet shooter. Now that I have returned to PA I am continuing along this path and shooting skeet locally. Al Morrison, the owner, was as hospitable as can possibly be, and Richard took the time to show me the process and help me establish the basics. There were other guys there who were welcoming and gentlemen as well. I probably visited the club to shoot maybe a dozen + times and from the very first I felt like I belonged there. And I take exception to an earlier comment relative to an “old boy network” and outsiders being run off – nothing could be further from the truth.

This club is owned and run by a former gold medalist, pan american champion, and former Marine. Al Morrison can be a wealth of support and information to any aspiring shotgunner. Although a former trap range and sporting clays remain, they are seldom in service. Expect to shoot skeet if you visit. Prices are the best of any club in the area at $3.50 per round for members. Generally, members are polite and helpful to newcomers.
Several instructors are available for lessons if arranged in advance. Al generally saves the few lessons he gives to younger folks. Due to the toll of service related disabilities he cannot spend as much time as he might like on his feet.
Overall, if you like skeet and are near Newberry, its a diamond in the rough.

I shot a registered skeet shoot there today. It is a nice facility throwing targets comparable with like size clubs. The people were very friendly and the fields well tended. I look forward to shooting there again.

I visited Triangle when I lived in Columbia, SC. Typically clay shooters are some of the nicest most welcoming people you will ever meet, but I do not recall ever being made to feel more unwelcome in my entire life. This is a members only club that apparently recruits new members via the Old Boy Network. Outsiders are essentially run off. The physical facility itself is well below average.
